Ta for posting that.

The review is not overly long but the distortion comparison with the 14-24 is what jumped out at me. I no longer need one of these but you have piqued my interest for this new lens and the upcoming reviews on higher res cameras.

Tas
The things that jumped out when I went through that review: 1) IQ was at least as good as the comparison Nikon at most apertures; 2) IQ was palpably superior at f22 where the Irix, inexplicably, seems to have avoided significant softening caused by diffraction. If the review is trustworthy, the Irix lives up to the manufacturer's hype.

In any rate, there seem to be more and more choice for nice Uwa primes, which is good. Sy14 2.8, irix 14 2.4, laowa 12 2.8, laowa 15 4. If samyang releases 14 2.4 later on, that's quite a bit of choice in the segment. All we're missing is an Uwa f4 zoom, for people that dont need faster apertures.

I'd be pretty happy with any of them, but now I'm particularly interested in the irix one and the new samyang 14 2.4 (if they ever release it for k mount)

It really seems to be quite good lens, Irix..let's see some shots, first LE(with filters) and then some with pixel sift!

Try Flickr

There are a few Irix 15mm images on Flickr now. Worth a look. I am still not entirely convinced about this lens but general sharpness and distortion seem good. Seems a bit soft wide open in corners but that's okay for me. It may be found out for astro if you pixel peep. Would like a comparison with the Zeiss 15mm f2.8 and the new Samyang 14mm f2.4. I think it is good but......time will tell..

The reviewer who posted this videoreview already sent his Irixcopy back because of softness on the corners and many flares (in his opinion the flareresistance is comparable to Tamron 18-200).
And a german forumuser asked Irix about the Coma and got following answer:

"Hello M. , the coma is normal effect for ultra-wide lenses with large aperture. We put many efforts to make coma as low as it is possible. But as everybody can see, there is hard to make which is ideal in an every aspect. For some users who are interest in astrophotography it may be too high, while in daylight pictures it works superb."

I am still not sure.

Does any know of a 21mm or wider FF lens that does NOT have soft corners when used wide open?

Yes, that's the DFA15-30.

15-30 needs f/4 for almost sharp corners. F/5.6 = sharp. Wide open goes with astro though.
