Is there not a parallel to this Samyang discussion with Pentax equipment being assembled in Vietnam? (throws bait in water)
I'm not after an argument, but if this lens and any others they make are good quality and weather sealed to boot, then what's to lose if they succeed?
Yes there's some obvious marketing ploys, but if you were monetising this, wouldn't you look for a way of making your product attractive? For example, MIJ is used quite regularly here in the Marketplace for a reason.
Look, I see more options for us with this lens, and if the lens is rubbish then nothing will be lost to us if we don't buy it. If it's mediocre and the price is too high, the same will happen. Marketing will gain interest, but the quality of the images it produces will be what sells this lens.
Besides, I'm just happy they remembered to add the K mount.
(I hope Zeiss read that last line)
