Is that a new tele lens?

from PENTAX Meeting 2016!

Here is the 560mm prototype version from CP+ 2012 and it's quite similar into folded position.

Here is the difference:

Regards.

Is that really a difference, though? The knob is just in a different position. And the bottom handle is different colour, as well (black, like in the prototype photos, unlike the beige of the actual finished product).
I think this is just a preproduction prototype that they use as a prop. And because of this it doesn't look exactly the same. It might not even be functional (maybe a knob fell off during its time as a prop and was placed back on haphazardly)
I wouldn't take it as any big indicator, though I guess i would be nice of Pentax to make a "compact" 400mm. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it, though.

Both lenses appears to be different than the production 560mm - the "long" one has a wider focus ring, the "short" one the details on the hood. They might be both prototypes, maybe of the same lens.

Similar to a little larger front lens, but shorter.

560/5.6= 100mm aperture.

So could be 400/4 or 300/2.8. Both have people wanting them. Whatever it will be the other half will scream "who wants that? My personal wish is much more needed!"

300mm is by all standards shorter than what we see, unless the lens hood is in working position, which i can hardly believe taking into account lens holder position

One of the mock-ups I would say, therefore collapsible.

why, do you imagine, would they be waving around a prototype of that lens in 2016 ?

I thought that prototype collapsed in such a way that it covered part of the focusing grip

because marketing/advertisment department generally have no idea what the hell they are doing? they just grab whatever is on hand and looks cool. Seems like a better explanation than making and showing a prototype of a lens that hasn't even been put on the road map, much less announced.
