It would be very encouraging to see new prime telephotos in the Pentax line-up. I hope the possible new lens(es) include better handling of CA, faster focus, and better tripod foot/balance design.

I don't think it's indicative of anything specific being in development. I suspect it's an older prototype being used to make a point, or as a prop.

That being said, it would hardly be surprising for Pentax to be developing new telephoto lenses.

I thought it was a prototype of 560mm lens but that striped pattern is an interesting detail which has not exist (or we couldn't see before due to angles etc.) on previous prototype version. Also almost every comment has something about its long length as a negative case at least for transport. Maybe they have started to think about use that collapsible design in new tele lenses. We don't know but it's interesting to see even if it is the same mock-up or something else.

Update. Prototype version has it. The question is why did they show it again?

Not on any public roadmap for sure
I waited so long for a 400mm/F4 that I gave up and bought an SMC Pentax-M* 67 400mm F4.0 and a 67 to K adaptor. I lot nicer to shoot with than a ghost lens

It would also hardly be surprising if such lenses under development don't show up on any public roadmap. I suspect there is the roadmap we see - and then there is the development roadmap; lenses in various stages of development but not yet financially cleared to manufacture.

I suspect many of the development raodmap lenses will make it to our roadmap if K-1 is a success.

I really don't understand why Pentax never add that kind of telephoto lens to the road map? Also, features are really lame compare to 150-450 and 70-200 lenses. DA 560mm have poor design and lack of features.

Btw why this kind of lens have a silver ring? Star lens have a golden or yellow ring while other normal lenses don't. New Pentax 645 lenses have silver rings tho.

I'm actually hoping that turn out to be 200mm f2 lens or 300mm f2.8 lens. Looks more like a 300mm f2.8 lens mock up to me.
