Okay. Everything is set and ready to proceed. I PM'd @JCDoss and Petrol_Pyro about the next recipient and have heard back from neither.

Here's the list as I understand it right now:

1- petrol_pyro AU
2- kp0c CA
3- Mattcard CA
4- Mamethot CA
5- K David US
6- mconwxdr US
7- leekil US
8- pathdoc CA
9- g026r CA
10- Rense EU
11- nomolas EU
12- cabstar EU
13- daniel blues EU
14- kickman CostaRica
15- SpartanD63 US
16- chickentender US
17- Gareth.Ig CA
18- OhioAngie (OH, USA, presumably)
19- ???

Please PM me to let me know if you are or are not still interested. I'll keep a tally of responses. If you are slated for a position after OhioAngie (I didn't scour this thread for updates) let me know and I'll correct the data.

@Petrol_Pyro hasn't logged on in a couple of weeks. I'm moving to Colorado shortly so if I haven't heard from him by the time I pack up the den (in a week-ish) I'll reach out to kp0c and we'll figure out a way to make it right for P_P.

I do think we'll need to re-brand this, however. We could call it the X-citing Travelling Camera. To that end, I do have a couple of requests. If the SD card in the camera is better than yours, please don't swap it out. I put a 32gb San Disk Ultra Plus and new batteries into the camera. I did not have extra rechargeables to include (I'm sorry, Planet Earth). I elected to go digital because I thought it might speed things up and alleviate the cost of developing. So my second request is to try and turn around the camera in about 10 days.

I know there's a good chance that I'll never see my camera again, but if it goes on an adventure, I hope it's a good one. And I hope it gets back to me having taken a lot of neat photos for everyone.

And I'll let the first recipient share with everyone what camera is moving around now.

David

P.S. Please feel free to paint your initials or put a small sticker on the camera next to or around my name or on the outside of the bottom (just not over the SN, please!) as a travel record.

What is this camera? It's digital, and not a K-mount?

Frankly, I *joined* PF for the Kaptivating K-Mount Traveling K1000...it would be nice to get another K1000 going as well.

Now you got my curiosity up, I thought this was a K1000 traveling the world that jcdoss had fixed and sent out with extra film. That's not the case anymore?

All: If you would rather have a K1000 than a digital camera I have a dormant K1000SE and M50/2 I will donate to the cause. I think we should have any mechanical camera CLA’ed first, so it would take a few weeks to get rolling again.

Just let me know.

If the consensus is that a K1000 would be preferred, I can send one of my K1000 bodies instead. That's no skin of my teeth. I just figured that a digital camera would help expedite the process.

I thought the delay was part of the appeal... you wait for it to come, looking at everyone else’s photos as they post. You finally get it, shoot through a roll or two, send it on, then develop the film for everyone else to see.

Digital just speeds the whole thing up and makes it too efficient 🙂

IMO (FWIW I supplied the M50/1.7 for the first camera) the idea is to shoot film with a legacy camera and enjoy the cameraderie of the Flickr Group. A K1000 is the Classic Pentax film body. Just as the Sightseeing Screwmount SV that went around for years is a classic and was the first volume Pentax SLR. It is presently parked in my cellar.

Okay. I'm sold. I'll put in my K1000. (The more cameras I can move out before the Denver move, the happier my wife will be.)

Any complaints about a 1.4 lens instead of a 1.7? I have a 1.4 with a dented filter ring that would be perfect for a trip. Barring any objections, I'll send the camera on to Eric for an overhaul with return shipping to the next recipient.

Hi All
Sorry for the lack of reply - just to confirm I already had the camera, tried to send it to @Enigmatica.

I accidentally got it before him due to a mix up with the other Australian participants.

For those who can't be bothered trawling back through 5 pages of I sent thread, my photos are here

Just confirming that the K1000 is off for repair. I haven't yet heard from kp0C. I'll follow up with him when I hear from Eric and if I don't have a response the camera will go to Mattcard.
