I just hope they've finally licked the Aperture Control problem.

Ha, good point, that's gold!

Yes as a K-30 'victim' I can certainly say I was not impressed with this aspect. I was one of the lucky few (?!) who had an early failure of this part, which could be fixed under warranty, but I was honestly disgusted by the shut door policy on other Pentax owners who experienced a failure after their warranties had expired. It would have been the stuff of recalls if the total number had failed all at once, but was swept under the carpet over time.

To this day I don't know if it was fixed for good, or they put another similar part in and I'm sitting on a time bomb?

Interested to see the next range of Pentax APS-C cameras, as in a lot of ways the K-1 even is a FF K-3ii.

It will be one to watch and I wonder if it will differ from a K-S3, as they appear to overlap considerably really.

And the K-70 will replace the K-50.

OK, sure. Why not?

hahaha I was thinking something similar.. the naming convention is about as confusing as Canon's. 6D -> full frame. 60D -> crop. 7D -> crop. huh?

I haven't heard of any with the K-S1 or K-S2 .. or really any of the bodies that were released after the K-50.

The have been happening with the K-S2, it seems. Same assembly I believe, but perhaps the user reports were erroneous.

Ricoh registered a new Pentax K-70 camera with the Korean Radio Research Agency (RRA). My guess is that this new camera will be announced during the Photokina show in September and it will be a replacement for the current K-50 model.
Pentax liked to announce models in May-June
K-30 - May, 21, 2012
K-50 - June, 12, 2013

K-7 - May, 20, 2009
K100D Super - June, 28, 2007
K100D - May, 22, 2006
*ist DL - June, 1, 2005

I think K-70 will be very soon. Not September.

high FPS with very deep buffer...
yes, but it needs to have a fast processor for fast buffer clear times.

Naming continuity would be great. Pentax has done it before, it can do it again!

I hope this thing will have a much better high ISO low light image quality. Like others here, I would also like to see a battery grip. WR is definitely a must.

Personally I see the grip, 1/8000th sec max shutter speed and large burst buffer and fps rate as key ingredients to separating the consumer K-30/K-50 and pro K-5/K-3 lines.

Man, all of the pentax dSLRs in the last few years would make a super fine daily/all around camera. It will be interesting to what comes out of this. Thinking about getting a k50 as a beater camera - heck of a lot of gear for the price!!!

I could live with that, as long as they retain the K-50's P-TTL-controller-capable flash, cable release port, and ability to take AA batteries (given adapter) that didn't make it into the K-S2.

To this day I believe Pentax is behind in the DSLR market because their first few products had a name that was inscrutable and unpronounceable.

There have been two recent requests for help that sound a lot like that problem
