I think it is best not the generalize problems with a few camera's to all of them.

Video orientated please. Tilt screen, jacks, and 4k...or maybe just fullHD at 30p max...but with raw video, like blackmagic pocket.

If I was Pentax...lol...Would make a K70 and a Ks3 for video, and make all the Ks line video orientated...with K mount and the amazing legacy lenses (used a lot by dslr filmmakers with adapters), could be a major jump. Look what dslr video made with GH4 and Samsung, or event the Sony A6300.

Same 20mp sensor as in the KS line, 4k video capable, WR, 2 control wheels, 100-51200 ISO, same form factor as the K50, something to take the place of the KS1 and K50.

Raw video is for me an even more important feature than 4K. Even if there are plenty of people filming in 4K, it is still not a standard for most consumers/viewers...
Maybe 2K with RAW would be a good compromise so that people can use the extra resolution to stabilize the video in post and have excellent quality FullHD footage.

It is unlikely, but I would love to see an XLR plug too.

To this day I believe Pentax is behind in the DSLR market because their first few products had a name that was inscrutable and unpronounceable.

K-50ish body with 24MP (or 20MP) sensor and maybe one "advanced" K-3 feature, with one basic K-50 feature inexplicably left off (because it's a Pentax tradition).

Video specs probably close to or slightly below the Nikon D500, since its image processor is based on the latest Milbeaut. Pentax's video capabilities depend heavily (or entirely) on what is built into the Milbeaut by SocioNext (formerly Fujitsu).

I suspect K-70 will be a lower spec than K-50.. as the numbers get lower towards flagship.
Or maybe they are staring a new FF series!

But the numbers in the K-30/K-50 series have not followed that pattern.

Actually using the K-S one for video is not a bad idea. It's supposed to be for young whippersnappers who are progressive. Video features will attract them more than lights in the grip will...

IIRC they released the K-30 in the US in July 2012.. K-50 in July 2013... I think it is coming soon if they follow past trend. Esp since most vendors have started closeout/blowout on the K-50 stock..

Flagship probably closer to September after the K-70 has launched and is stable.. it will give them a couple of months to use the K-70 as a testbed of sorts to hone the crop flagship before release... assuming they all use the processor from the K-1.

The K-50 certainly is due for an update! The K-70 could be to the K-3/K3ii what the K-50 was to the K-5/K5ii. Same sensor, same AF, same SR, but lower built quality and without some expert/pro features (double SD slot, battery grip, sync port...).
I never saw a reason to upgrade from my K-30 to the K-50 since they were almost the same camera, but with less edgy style for the K-50. I hope you're right about it being based on the K-3.

To be a X0 series it should have a 24mp sensor. The 4mp extra in the 20 isnt worth the trade off for the sweet 16. It'll be a smaller, rugged, similarly specced k3II but without some of the extras like astrotracer or gps imo.

I like the way my k-5II handles noise at ISO 800 over my k-3II. That's why I still prefer an improvement in image quality and noise handling at high ISOs over hardware improvements though such improvements are always welcome.

I think I will wait for the K-90... Ugh! so many cameras to choose from, so little time to shoot.

I'll help you to choose a camera quickly. Here are my steps:

1. All you have to do is read about the cameras.
2. Then narrow it down to the features you like.
3. Then you read the feedback of how it works and how beautiful the pictures come out.
4. Then you look at the sample shots.
5. If a store offers it, you go there and hold the camera to get the feel of it.
6. Next you start looking into your bank account if you have the money. If you don't, you start to squint.

Then you do steps 1-6 about 3 times. You dream about it and comes the next steps.
1. You start justifying the expense.
2. You start to save money for it.
3. You order it or buy it from the store.
4. You'll have it.

Finally you can say, 'After all the efforts I've been through, I made the right decision. And it's all mine!'

Then you'll live through it.
