I don't know if the image quality particularly noise control is being affected by a higher megapixel sensor. Until now I find my K-3II difficult to master. I wonder if the have a more detailed guide to the best settings for the k-3II.
DR is poorer with the 24MP sensor. Not sure if that is affecting you.. but it charts between the K-50 and the K-5 / II

That probably explains it. Noise is not so good to with the K-3II. Probably the same thing is affecting it. Thanks for the info.

I find the noise from the K-S2 more monochromatic and film-like and therefore more pleasing than the noise from my K-3. Perhaps a new high-MP sensor is in order for APS-C bodies.

Since this is a Place where it's ok to dream: I want a k-30s size and weight and weathersealing and so on with a d500 speed and buffer and a k-1s picture quality, specially performance in higher iso. Still I would be interested in just a new, faster k-30 with a lager buffer. The rest is just bonus.

+1. I haven't used it myself but I'm very impressed by the results my son get from the K-s1 he got for christmas. E.g. very good skin tones even at high ISO in dim lamp light, I think it outperforms my K-5 in this respect.

Exactly, this is what I see in K-s1 images as well.

FWIW, the K-S2 is now showing as no longer available at Adorama (though it's still there at B&H). It's also been disappearing from Canadian online camera stores. BTW, I really hope the K-70 is more than simply a rebadge of the K-S2, but I wouldn't put it past Ricoh to do exactly that...

Wow, you're right, I can't see any k-s2 cameras on adorama! Maybe the consumer cameras will be in cycle, k-50 to k-s2 to k-70 to k-s3?

I'm surprised if its already discontinued! Hardly over a year in production. And if so, it is either to rebadge the k-s2 like the K-50 was to the K-30, following just a year later, or it is because they've got so much new tech that they decided not to wait to update the consumer line-up! Hope its the later...

I'm sure they're prioritizing k-1 production over k-s2 with whatever resources they have

Wouldn't that just show out of stock rather than no longer available?

If it's sensors they lack they can prioritize all they want. Won't be any use. Camera's are made in the Philippines (and some in Vietnam apperently).

Depends I think on the expected period. You'd have to ask Adorama. Maybe the K-70 should have been launched about this time and has now been delayed.

The k-s1 only lasted a few hours before it was discontinued, so the k-S2 has done well by comparison.

So I was just dreaming about random designs, and I thought - what if aps-c bodies got a third e-dial? Not like the K-1, of course, there isn't space, especially on the consumer bodies. But what about one that is like the control wheel of a Canon camera, right behind the shutter button? Then it could be programmed via menu to control something, for example, ISO - I, if not anyone else, would find that useful. But then where would the green button and exposure comp button go?

Just some random thoughts
It'd be pretty neat if all pentax bodies could boast three e-dials. Although i'm not certain its all that useful for everyone. But then gain, many people argue that two dials aren't useful, they're happy with doing AE+scroll wheel...

I'd be more than happy if they removed that stupid top dial and gave us a large LCD on the next FF -- well if it was a one vs the other situation.

I was surprised at how little I missed the top LCD screen on the k-30
coming from the k-100d.

The rear screen is excellent and shows everything I need, and larger than the 1980's green lcd screen technology stil used on these lcds.
