It is not 'hogwash.' Sigma is a business about profit. There appears to be more profit in continuing to produce their lenses in F and EF/EF-S than retooling to include K. They've even stated as such.. there currently isn't enough demand to warrant their effort to support K mount any more than they currently are.
Hopefully they'll reconsider sooner than later.. but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Just because there is a hole in the lineup doesn't mean Sigma will make more profits filling it than continuing as they are with other highly desired mounts.
Otherwise they could lauch F/4 zooms, 150-600mm Sport and/or Contemporary, and several of the Art series primes since Pentax doesn't have any similar lenses in their lineup.
That said, since they already had a K mount 85/1.4 I could see it coming back as an Art.. but, again, I wouldn't hold my breath.
