Nowadays I tug it behind me on a folding luggage cart.

That is gorgeous! I love press cameras. My second 4x5 was a Super Graphic, but it had 0 movements with my 75mm ultrawide so i got a field camera instead. Couldnt afford to keep both but shooting 4x5 handheld is fun.

Sorry for slightly derailing the thread!

Puts it all into perspective.. We love to argue between ASP-C and FF and of course, they are all inconsequential compared to press cameras and their much larger format film.

IMO, more than the film size, it's the way you use and set them up which makes those cam they are.
Everybody should try just to know what it is.
In the world of smartphones, taking 15 minutes to set up the whole thing feels like living in an other universe.

The specs of the Cine version (same lens formula): http://www.sigma-global.com/common/cine-lenses/resources/data/technical-spec...ifications.pdf 1475g.... a zeiss Otus is 1140g

Specs of the photo version, no weight yet.. Construction/specifications | 85mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art | Products | Lenses | SIGMA GLOBAL VISION

Let's compare with other cine versions the 50 1.5 is 1295g the 35 1.5 is 1135g photo versions 815g (50) and 665g(35). Added weight respectively 480 and 470 grams for a cine version. So maybe it will end up at 1kg.

Even medium format cameras are capable of snapshots. I love my 4x5 and 8x10 because they are *very* deliberate. You have to think your photo through because of the time and monetary investment that goes into each frame. That, and getting to play with perspective control on such a grand scale gives you a new appreciation for tilt, swing, rise, fall, and shift.

They are a whole other universe, for sure. I love getting to let people play with my 4x5. Especially now that I have a studio monorail again (found at a yard sale, no less.)

Sigma has no plans for a Pentax line of the new art and sport lenses.
My 60 minutes with Sigma and a lot of coffee were interesting but in case of Pentax more sadly than interesting.
The Japanese chief of engineers only shook his head after the point that I know a big pack of Pentax user worldwide with the will to buy this new 85 and all the other new lenses
But nope,Sigma isn't looking for that,no interest.
I gave him current numbers of production and numbers of sale of the K-1 but only answer was,no way currently.
But nobody knows the situation in 2 years.
That was the last sentence and than we talked about the new 4.0 500.
But not anymore about Pentax anyway.
The new 500 is a dream, lightweight and absolute highest end.
But,not for Pentax.
Best regards

Thanks so much, asahi man!

I really appreciate that you went to Sigma and not only asked the question but also tried to convince them that they are losing out on business.

Much, much appreciated!

I'm joining mee and redpit in stating that this is really sad news.

One wonders: Why?

Are Sigma already near the production capacity limit without adding K-mount back again?

Are they not aware of the fact that the KFA-4 mount would make it easier for them to support K-mount again?

Do they think there are too few KFA-4 mount cameras out there yet?

Where sales of the 18-35/1.8 in K-mount too bad?

Was it because they couldn't handle AF issues of the lens in K-mount or because the lens received an undeserved reputation as being unable to focus on a Pentax?

At least there's hope!

We've had to wait for our Pentax FF a bit longer than that.

this 500 is so attractive, lightweight, with in-lens stabilization, and well priced...

Unless you post pictures of coffee and Sigma lenses together, I'm not going to believe this meeting actually happened...Oops! I see you already did!
