This looks an awful lot like the K-S2; maybe that will be discontinued?

Interesting is the concave flash housing. Strange that there are extra plastic pieces around the shutter button.

K-S2 to K-70 looks like the progression from the K-30 to the K-50. Newer inside with the aggressive styling toned down. Given the K-S2 isn't all that aggressively styled, but the texture and angles seem to be smoothed over on the K-70

If this is all true, I'm buying one. I still have my k-x, i doubted a long time about the k-s2, but it's poor video capabilities put me off, then I doubted about the k-3, but no flippy screen for macro photo's... this camera seems to have it all!

Green Button on top plate - is that new?
My K200D & K-x had the green button in the same position. It works great in that location.

I'm fascinated by the hybrid AF - does this mean it doesn't share the K3ii sensor? If that's the case could there be differences in high ISO performance?

Maybe the sensor from Sony a6300 or a6000.

Both sensors from a6000 and a6300 have on board pdaf, but vary in the number. Both ready products from Sony where Pentax is customer. The a6000 sensor is probably cheaper.

Agreed. Either would be fine. The A6000 has been a very capable ground breaking product for Sony. Could be interesting, given this K-70 looks to still only have the 11 focus points, so an A6000 would have 179 at least. For a Pentax that's pretty epic...

Still waiting on the SR confirmation...

And now for the important question... do we get more color options?

Sounds like you can make the rear screen go red for night use...

Two other points?

Is that SR logo on a plastic stand off base? My fingers hit that on the K-S1 and it's just stupid cutting into the grip area for that.

Are there headphone and mic input sockets?

headphone no.
Not necessary if it has an HDMI out port (which the K-S2 has, but not the K30). The microphone input jack is new from the K-S2 (or the K-30), but has been in "flagship" models for a while. More evidence for mixing and matching of parts.
