This isn't the same K-3II sensor right? Just a variant?

That one's 24.35MP and the K-70's is 24.24...

I remember Ricoh Imaging had a patent about on-sensor PDAF... maybe it's related? Maybe they're not simply using a MILC sensor with its Sony-designed PDAF?

The A6000 also has 25 AF area's which are responsable for CDAF. Under those area's are the PDAF Points:

The A6000 sensor is a really good one. The AF points would still required some CPU brains to interpret and use them, so just because the sensors are there, doesn't mean they'll be used the same as on the A6000. Let's be honest, Pentax doesn't have a strong history in competitive autofocus ability...

But the modus operandi is to guess, assume, and fantasize then get upset when it doesn't come true. On the other hand, if it does come true then claim superiority for knowing it all along. Come on man get with the game. Because that game is played here.

Anyone understand why the cable release jack is not compatible with existing cable releases? I'd hate to have to throw my RF interval trigger away.
Up to now, their cable remotes use the 2.5mm mini jack, while this is probably the 3.5mm standard headphone mini jack. So it's possible that a simple audio adapter might do the trick. (BTW, I'm using a 2.5mm headphone extension cable for more reach with the cable remote.)

interesting, in pentax k30 manual movie mode operations doesn't have focus peaking mentioned at all, only live view operations section has it, however k70 manual has focus peaking mentioned in the movie mode operations table as well as in live view operations. Could it be that a miracle have happened and focus peaking is enabled during movie recording? can't wait for the review of this cam, it is so intriguing. Keeping fingers crossed for focus peaking to be working while recording video.

I had hoped that about the Movie SR stabilisation, as it wasn't listed anywhere in the release info, whereas in the past it's been listed clearly. It was still there though, and Pentax are right not to advertise that fact...

Digital zoom and focus peaking DURING video recording are on my video improvement wish list.
Along with real SR, audio level visualisations (are these included yet?), clean hdmi out and a higher bitrate mode, oh and blinkies/zebras to warn of over/under exposure during video recording.

Personally I'd love to see the above over AF in video actually, but don't really care the order of delivery, as long as it all does get delivered one day soon.
The above is actually not that much of a development, I haven't added 4k to the mix etc, as I'm "keeping it real".

The headphone/Remote socket is now combined, to get the socket to cover both functions the internal wiring contacts have been moved about in relation to the plug, its still 2.5 size but if you compare the old release it has 2 black bands on the plug giving 3 contact areas, and the new release has 3 black bands giving 4 contact areas, as the larger k3/k1 has no such space problems I think it will have 2 sockets one for each function in the future models.
