I've seen those images before. Well composed, but very heavily processed, and it looks to me like the guy wasn't in those locations - like he has been merged into the backgrounds. Having said that, they definitely get the WR / AW point across!!

Oh yes Yeah let's bring out the promotion set of images for the K-3 made with the NIKON D600! They are great, since we all know Nikon makes great camera's.

? How can you tell they are shot on a D600?
These images owe more to Photoshop than a D600, I think.

This is a 100 % knowledge. Yes photoshop does every trick.

The little last sentence is "also" about this set......

I should say....start over and forget about this nonsense image set.

Who cares if they were shot with a D600?

It's not like when Huawei had shown DSLR images and implied they were taken with one of their smartphones. There's no deception involved, no claim those images are taken with, or representative of a Pentax' output. These are simply marketing images with some rugged-looking man with his rugged-looking Pentax equipment. Why the outrage?

And the last example, that was a mistake - a test which should've never been sent to customers. Yes, it wasn't professional. Yes, mistakes happens. Who's the one who can't forget?

Fogel asked, how about these images. Wel they are D600.

Pentax is great at marketing, competitors should ask them for advise. Or except that they just suck at marketing.

No, Fogel didn't ask what camera was used to shoot those images. He was presenting advertising material for a Pentax product - "promoting the Pentax range for outdoor use".
You hijacked the discussion, trying to spin out a negative.

Well this is Funny. I'm pretty sure these images where studio images. The photographer live in Paris. I have been to Paris some 20 times and there are no Mountains. But then again, I don't want to be accuzed for being the party poeper again. So I did a search for the most unlikely image, wich is in the snow. And the original popped up pretty fast where it was used in a report of something.

But it is just advertising and why make a big fuzz about an image. Who cares about images.

And sea2

So we have a studio portrait made with Nikon D600 photoshopped into some scenery from a stock image.

Absolutely nothing. Nikon makes great camera's, everyone should buy them. I do wonder if we will see some of these images on large format at Photokina. No new images like these where made in the last three years. Marketing is something that is very difficult.

Do you realize what an ad is? Hint: it's not trying to sell the tools used to make the image, including but not limited to the printer, paper manufacturer, the computer and software used for processing and so on.

By the way, while this "OMG Ricoh used stock images in their ads" (IMHO stock images are made to be used) is completely nonsense, can't be even called a blunder. OTOH I already mentioned Huawei's deliberate attempt at disinformation, and here's Nikon stealing Canon 5D MkII footage for a D800 video:
Oops: Nikon Uses Stolen Canon 5D Mark II Footage for D800 Promo Video
That's what should get people upset.
