I do see those words used. Mostly totally misplaced. For a lot of people is talking about Pentax in any form difficult. So I see comments on me about "doomed" and accusing of bashing. Even when in the end I was just right.

In this thread....

So because people think that Pentax sells a lot of K-1 it must be successful and it cannot be so that sales are slow for some time. Well they where because of the quake that stopped production almost completely. Still I get accused of bashing.

Not all shiny things are gold.
Each time Pentax announces a new camera, after a few days trolls settle on one issue that they raise in every thread regardless of the subject of that thread. Fortunately, I haven't heard much recently about lack of OBF, and little about video. This thread is about a lens specifically intended for APS-C cameras. I don't see any relevance about talking in this thread about a FF camera. {nor about the lack of OBF on certain cameras, etc}

I'm not offended. I'm just tired of the same conversation over-and-over again - the value of your figures has nothing to do with your calculator, but everything to do with the assumptions which the calculations are based on (*) and here their value is zero because we're not talking FF.

(*) Incidentally, I also have zero interest in discussing that subject also, nor do I want to talk about the "success" of the K-70, not about the "success" of comparable cameras made by other companies. Our interest here should be on how this lens compares to the lens it replaces and on how it will work on various cameras.

Hey guys what's going on in this retractable telephoto lens thread?

I checked the prices for the existing 55-300 and the RE 55-300 and B&H has them for pennies difference in price. Pretty nice on the part of Pentax with that.

YES, how will it work on the K1 in FF mode?

And if someone has tried that, it would be nice to hear. My issue is hearing yet again the complaints about camera bodies, complaints that have zero direct relevance to this particular lens.

Yes, that is part of the story people seem to be ignoring here. A modern lens with modern AF focusing motor and modern aperture control for virtually the same cost as what is replaces!

Somebody has but they didn't say whether it was crop or ff mode....its interesting to me as my DA55-300 does pretty well in FF mode, but as its not WR I'd be tempted to buy this newby.

I would be really surprised if this lens covers the full image area of the K-1 sensor at most or all focal lengths. That said, I'm kind of surprised the original 55-300 does as well, so what do I know.

Some Japanese users showed their test results. At both ends of the zoom range it already vignets, and the vignetting becomes heavier when you go in-between focal length.

One person made the following thread to post 55mm, 78mm (first entry in the thread) and 300mm (second entry) results. He didn't use the hood for these pictures:
http://bbs.kakaku.com/bbs/K0000883626/#20115161

Here's another person showing 98mm (flower) and 55mm (buildings) example.

(Edit on Sep/07: This is about the new HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mmF4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE.)

That is the point.....it is Ricoh-Imaging Europe that hired the Nikon man to do the job.

They hired an advertising company to do the job, who have their normal go-to graphic designers, photographers and model hirers.

How about we just let professionals go about their business, Ron, without you putting constraints on them?

Well ROM rightly deserves backfire but "totale" is simply the dutch version of the word. We all make such mistakes don't we?

I thought it was totaal
The important part was the quote that followed, not this misspelling. But let's not reopen the discussion.
