We can see at the video - 15 points

If it's the same sensor - which IMO is likely - the implementation is indeed different. The K-70 is using in LV 35 AF areas instead of 25 like the Sony.
But what about phase-detect points?

Those are AF areas.
I don't know how many PDAF points there are.

K-2 is in the pipe with 42mPix A7rii sensor. Possibly priced at $2100. <- And I am speculating.

K-2 may refer to the K-1 successor, K-3 II successor or to an alternative full frame body with a 24mp sensor higher frame rate.

I see in this way
K-70 - TBD
A6000 - 25 contrast detect focus points, 179 phase detect focus points
A6300 - 169 contrast detect focus points, 425 phase detect focus points

We've got the answer from official Ricoh dealer in Russia - NO ANY TECHNICAL DETAILS FROM THE MANUFACTURER AT ALL .

It's so strange - first hybrid AF system for company and no any info. It's very strange work of marketing department.

Torn between the K3/K3ii and this K70 as I am in the market for a new body.

I've held the K3 in the store and really like it - solid camera with lots of things a photographer likes. For my tastes the 8FPS, battery grip, ergonomics, and top viewer stand out. Would love to get my hands on the K70 and see how it feels alternatively. Things like WiFi, 1080p video, and improved AF are attractive- fun and modern sounding. But... I don't like feeling like I'm forced to invest in the 75-300MM Pulse Motor to take full advantage. I am wondering if anyone can enlighten me on this lens issue? What can be expected when using the K70 with older lenses including film era primes and zooms? I shoot my share of action sports from distance.

If K-70 has the best LV AF between Pentax cameras, it means you can forget about phase AF thru VF and AF's adjustment. IMO

The K-70 has improved video AF - the main (OVF) PDAF should not be on the same level as on the K-3 series.
You have 3 choices:
- go with a K-3 series camera (if you're fine with no on-board flash, the K-3II seems more future proof as it will be compatible with the new electronic aperture system)
- go with the K-70 (if you like its bells&whistles and the video/LV AF; its OVF PDAF is still an older SAFOX X). You'd pay the higher launch price if you'd buy it right after it becomes available.
- wait a bit, because Photokina is closing and there might be a new high-end APS-C camera (you'd have to wait a few months for that, and it will be the most expensive option).

Since you're saying "action sports" I'd say you want OVF PDAF; you might want to choose between option 3 and option 1.

The PLM motor is made for smooth video focusing. I have no idea how good is for action/AF-C - I guess nobody here knows, since it's not yet available.

Something to remember, and I expect to make this comment multiple times in multiple forums here, is

Something to be aware of is that the K-70 continues Pentax's consumer line. It will not be as robust as, have the endurance of, a professional camera, such as the K-3ii.

Maybe they had received enough pre-orders to use up the stock they initially ordered.

I think that may be another way of saying "we dont have it and we have no idea when we'll have it"

Any information on who is the sensor manufacturer and if it has been tested yet?
This looks like a worthy successor to my beloved K-30.
Sony Sensor.
