The specs on this " entry " level camera are fantastic. With the release of the K-1, and now the K-70, this paints a very rosy future for Pentax/Ricoh IMO.

For future good video they have to change to the bigger battery of the Ď-Li90. Looks like a nice camera.

The initial production volume is of only 5,000 units/month... lower than K-1's 7,000. For the K-S2 it was 15,000.
I wonder what is happening. Is this because of the Kumamoto earthquakes? Are they more pessimistic than usual?

Wich camera's are in production? K-3ii, K-1, 645Z, K-70 and that's it? Maybe not more production volume possible at this time in the factory. My estimation for their sales in dslr last year was around 120.000 units. So maybe they don't need more production.

Oh... I remember that estimate...
They need more production, at least for the K-1. But other products are difficult to get, too.

Where do you find these figures if I may ask?

I was going to consider this K70 for video making because it has a display that can be turned 180 degree, but same question about battery life, because video is rather power hungry (live view on) and the K70 battery is rather small. But, I remember that you Ron made a video about using a field monitor mounted on the flash hotshoe, so I could use a field monitor on the K1 for video making and essentially focusing with remote control. Then I don't need this K70.

I see "no"for composition adjustment.

It is under lens mount.
Been edited since I looked. Was definitely yes when the page was made public.

Overhere K-1 is not in stock. K-3ii is in stock, same for K-50. K-S2 is in stock, but market as going out of sale. K-S1 is not for shops to order, so not in sale. So basicly there is enough stock and production capacity for aps-c, but not for full frame. In England the K-1 is in stock in several stores. Well Pentax had a marginal sale over the twelve months prior to the arrival of K-1 in stores.

I was at Londen Gatwick last week and had some waiting time. You could buy almost anything there. Even Leica. The Theta S was in one store. But no Pentax anywhere. I was in New York and Washington for one week. I did not see any Pentax in the wild anywhere and that never happend before to me. I have a good sense of seeing a Pentax in use within a 100 yards, but nothing.

What is the new accelerator engine they claim to have added, that supposedly reduces noise? Is that just for JPEG processing?

Isn't the K-50 and K-3 implementations optical? If so you'd be way better off with a radio trigger instead anyways.. wouldn't need line of sight as you do with optical.
Totally agree with you, P_TTL RF trigger would be the best solution, but the problem is that Pentax doesn't offer any P-TTL radio trigger... Sure, there's the Acon but it's hard to get and only trigger one flash. So, if you need to control two off camera flashes in P-TTL, the only solution right now is to use optical trigering. If at least Pentax would provide a cheap optical controler, it would still be acceptable. But no, your only choice actually is to buy an additional 360 flash to do something that was supported in camera with the K-50 and K-3. It's not like asking to develop something new, just to have something that is already there and functional in the older bodies... This is a feature that was supported for years in Pentax bodies, but not included in the K-S2 and K-70... I have no idea what the reason can be.

Why sell it? I've always kept my previous primary camera {if it still works} to back up my new primary camera. Otherwise you're lost if something goes wrong.
