So it does accept the HD DA AF 1.4x AW (those A converters don't have a power coupling, so logical)

Because that the only ones wth no true official FA/DFA replacement that have good enough quality. Still they explain they do not guarentee this quality on FF borders in small letlers. This is marketing it allow them to have a more complete FF line up and even if some FA are not much better than some DA on FF border, it would be unnacceptable to say that some FA are not good enough.

There also a number of DA lenses that objectively have one issue or another when working in FF mode.Even if it is only as some apperture of focal length. So they can't really be sold as FF lenses.
