I'm sure this is what gets asked on Canon/Nikon/whatever forums every time Pentax wins something.

There are so many categories, pretty much every serious camera has won an award of some sort over the course of this year. Can't win them all, though! See:

I guess the Pentax K-1 was competing in the same category as the 1Dx mk II and the Nikon D5. Tipa just makes up new categories depending on which new camera's have appeared .

Surprised they couldn't create a new category: Best New Full Frame Camera with 36 megapixels and price below 2000.

Well, I am extremely satisfied with the K-1

The most affordable high end (prosumer?) FF on the market. And you don't need to pay the high end lens prices to enjoy.

K-1 is probably seen as prosumer and thus competing with D500.

I can't see this list as totally out of touch. The choices made in the list are rational and could be justified. It doesn't seem unreasonable.

It does seem ironic. I assume it refers to the camera system not the lens?

I agree. The m43 cameras fitted with a 42.5 Panasonic f/1.7 is so much smaller and produces quite lovely portraits.
And B&H has that lens for under $250 right now on a back to school special!

To be fair this is probably a fairer comparison with the Leica f/1.2 attached.
