Brilliant

Thank you, Beholder. The interminably crazy-long threads are an impossibility to follow normally.
This is great.
Best Wishes,

Nic

This way we have more diverse type of lens for those times when using a distance scale is appropriate.
Zeiss Batis lenses and now the new Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM have their own screen (OLED for Batis lenses, LCD for the Canon telezoom) where one can display, inter alia, the distance and depth of field.

I know they will have display distance, but can one set hyper focal manually for a given distance and f stop? That is what I'm talking about

Thank you for this thread. This cuts through all the garbage, petty interpersonal nonsense and gets to the 'meat' of the discussion.

I'm pretty sure it will head back that way, because it wouldn't be PF without it. But at least the top/original post is solid!

+1

Bit bummed about the very low likelihood of a new top APS-C body before 2017 though...

CP+ 2017 is within five months. How often do you need a new camera?
I used my Super Program for eleven years.

added thought: I've been saying that I'd wait until after Photokina 2016 to decide whether to buy a K-70, but my K-30 is not that old; I may wait until after CP+ 2017 instead.

Thanks for sorting the wheat from the chaff! Unfortunately, this thread is already starting to accumulate some impurities, which indicates the value of your work. Cheers!

Thanks. If you find some interesting information from the likes of kenspo or asahi-man which I overlook, just let me know. I will add it to the starting post, so reading all the stuff that typically develops later is not required. That is the whole point.
You can choose.

The effort is nice, but the outcome is boring, at least for now

Me too. I was hoping to see one with the K-1 screwdrive and maybe AF. And a flip screen at least like the K-70's as well as the K-70 sensor.

I like to upgrade every 3 years... I'm due.

BTW, if an insider could ask about the "DA Wide Zoom" that's been roadmapped for years, any somewhat reliable rumor/news would be much appreciated...

This is not about need - I need food, but I would like a new camera. And, for my kind of shooting, the lack of a tilting rear display is one of the few points of friction in my relationship with the otherwise fairly stellar K-3. A K-3 II plus a K-1-style rear screen would be almost the ideal body for me. I'd pre-order that right now! Anything else they might add in the K-3 successor would be (welcomed) gravy. Keep the price not too far north of $US1k. Oh, and I'd like it in silver, preferably. (Of course, an actual K-1 would be pretty nice too, but the bank account has so far energetically vetoed that proposition. And I'm not ruling out the K-70, but I'd prefer a K-1-style rear display, as well as the quieter shutter and the other perks that come with the top-tier APS-C line.)
