There is one more problem with mirrorless MF cameras - overheating of sensor.
Don't be surprised if the camera switch off during shooting.

Starting with the 67 body . . . ??
Sure they can use old bodies but you have to make them digital. There is going to be more room needed at the back for electronics. Maybe a bigger battery for driving the larger shutter and mirror. Placement of modern motors for shutter, mirror and aperture and AF operation. The dimensions are the easy part, to make a decent package is the hard part. I think the best thing Pentax can do is build a mirrorless body with a mirrorless mount module and an SLT module with PDAF (for legacy lenses). You don't use an adapter but change the entire front of the camera.

Pentax (not Ricoh Imaging at the time) R&D department did study something like that in 2012-2013, just before people from Ricoh took charge of Pentax Ricoh imaging, subsequently renamed Ricoh Imaging. The corresponding short-flanged mount was designated internally as the A mount (A for Ace, superior to K(ing) and Q(ueen), nothing to do with Sony). No news since then.

Great minds think alike The reason I went for SLT is that is is more simple to make and MF wouldn't suffer much from an EVF. You could use the same EVF for both mounts. You would need an automatic calibration mechanism, because of the tight tolerances of pdaf. Easy to do if you use it in conjuction with cdaf.

The high-voltage (10.8V) in-camera battery is already huge.
