Of course, there are also electronic shutters, but you'd better like Jello!
I've used the electronic shutter only - when motion is involved, not much fun.

Tomorrow I will give all the news of the Photokina I've got.
No number of sales or anything else like that, but some maybe interesting stuff about the situation about K-1 and K-? and the current sensor problem and lens situation.
Best regards
Definitely looking forward to good news on lenses.

Yes it is now tomorrow here in the Philippines! So what's the news? Come on Asahi man, tell us. Please tell us! Some of us won't be able to sleep. I was able to sleep well last night but, if you won't tell us, I won't be able to sleep tonight.

On Ricoh's request, he's been arrested and thrown into a dungeon.

I consider it to be an MF camera with a baby-MF sensor.

It makes sense for me to classify a camera differently than the sensor it uses because a 645z may have a reduced sensor size (relative to the original 60x45 format) but it still mounts proper MF lenses (and is compatible with other MF-accessories). Such a camera allows one to keep collecting MF lenses so that when the day comes and a Pentax 645 with a full-sized sensor is released, one is ready to use one's lenses to their full potential.

QuoteOriginally posted by Winder Quote
Most of the MF sensors are this size so the GFX competes sell with most other MF cameras except that is it 1/2 the size and 1/3-1/4 the cost.
Don't know about the cost but I agree that, for now, the GFX competes (in terms of sensor size). But for how much longer?

It is possible that Fuji does not care and only wanted to release an "FF+" camera. It is fair enough that they call it "MF", everyone else would. I'm not opposed to the GFX as a concept I just think they could have left themselves a door open for growth (perhaps not, the mount may have been prohibitively large, given it is a mirrorless design) and I'm annoyed with the hype that retro-style cameras receive even though their UI represents one or two steps backwards. But being annoyed about such things is my personal problem.

QuoteOriginally posted by Winder Quote
Part of it is. Part of the appeal of the X-mount is the compact size, just as it is for the DA Limited Pentax Lenses.
Sure, I agree with "part of it is". I just meant it wasn't the unique selling proposition that made them sell well.

The 645 system seems to be an after thought to Ricoh.
I'm not sure.

They super urgently had to focus on FF, AFAIC. I guess the 645z has been selling relatively well as it is, without tinkering much with the system. I think they'll come back to the 645 system; it just takes time. I reckon these days one is well advised to not move too quickly or optimistically in the photography market.

The lenses need to be updated and I don't think Ricoh has the resources to update the 645 line and get the more important FF glass on the market.
Not at the same time, I agree.

Hopefully we see more development on the 645 line in the near future.

mf cameras have a small market... and mirrorless are a small segment of a small market. pentax isn't going to beat fuji or hasselblad to market... so they better beat them on the spec sheet (and leak specs before fuji comes to market)! although i guess you could make an argument that no one is competing with hasselblad.

also, strange to hear the k to 645 converter mentioned in the forum interview... even though when the k-1 was released it was dismissed.... unless i'm not remembering things correctly.
