The marketing and development teams are watching us,hearing us and follow us if we give them real and usable points and ideas for new stuff and lenses.
Should we create a product specific repository of well defined improvement ideas where users can also vote them up or down by importance? That would surely be the best and easiest way to present it to the R&D teams... I know there have been a few threads and ideas are scattered in pretty much every thread, but if we create such source, where we could moderate 1) quality of the definition 2) priority for the users, we give them a great tool...

You read things which weren't written.

Q. for asahi man: you said 5 primes, that's one more than on the roadmap (there we have 4 primes and a fisheye zoom). Is it a typo?

I know. But if it isn't ready for cp+ then it probably isn't coming before the summer. K-5 came with Photokina 2010 and K-3 came in october 2013. The cycle got from 3 years for K-5 (iis) to 4 years for K-3 (ii). Nothing strange in the current market. Still no new sensor around. Lots of work done on K-1 and lenses in that time.

Ron,2017 is no Photokina.
So maybe it comes earlier or later or maybe never?
I think in summer with luck.
Best regards

Sorry,I got nothing about this.
But,if these are pro lenses with heavy focus lens groups,it will be not this new motor drive.
Only lightweight focus groups with simple focus group leading will use it.
For the fat and heavy groups you need a much powerful motor drive, like the new DC motor in 70-200 is.
Same type in the 150-450.
Best regards

That was a big surprise for Ricoh that the Pentax style is so special and the sections are so positive.
Same with K-1,I remember the talks all the years and month before fullframe made by Asahi
The result is,Ricoh gives a lot of financial power to the development team in Tokyo.
I find this especially encouraging

agreed, the FA version is quite soft at 2.0 and coating needs update, perhaps some fluoride glass too...

More lurv for the Ricoh GR series, please! It's a jewel in the crown which keeps Ricoh in play among street, BW and hardcore types all over the world. If Ricoh produced one with a built-in VF and a 35mm lens, I'd buy it there and then. Can't understand why Ricoh hold back on this long-running series of cameras and leave the field entirely to Fuji. I don't want a Fuji. The risk of then seeing a photograph of Zack Arias is simply too great.

It's good to hear Pentax being more positive than at any time in the past decade, imho. I am sure they have a plan but I am not really hearing what it might be. As the camera market shrinks it also becomes more informed, I think, since there is a gradually increasing proportion of enthusiasts who know their stuff. Everything to be gained by being really clear with this core market (the one with the $$$) where you are coming from.

Plans for APS-C seem a bit thin. This is where most folks are concentrated and I had been hoping for a little more. Maybe the Sony sensor situation is more serious than I thought. If another sensor supplier stepped into the fray with a top-quality offering, I would cheer. Relying on Sony in this way is bound to end in tears, I suspect.

Many thanks to asahi man for getting more from Ricoh than the whole crew at dpreview, to judge from a recent interview they ran. That interview did mention that Rioch's acquisition of Eye-Fi might produce some surprises. That could be an interesting one because "workflow", cloud and storage is moving closer to centre stage with every passing year.

It's good that Ricoh are putting such emphasis on listening to what their market is telling them but pretty terrifying that it look them so long to clock this. At least in this regard they are now well ahead of a few competitors I won't mention who are still doling it out on too much of a we-know-best basis.
