Point taken. But, how is that relevant? In the past, Pentax was the most popular SLR brand... that's no longer the case. Similarly, just because in the 80s people were buying 50mm f/1.2s doesn't mean today's people would do the same. The market itself is not the same.

But, what do I know? Perhaps Pentax people will find a way to make an affordable 50mm f/1.2, sharp enough for a 36-42+MP sensor, which would focus nicely on a K-1. Believe me, I'd be happy if they'll prove me wrong.

I simply believe that a more affordable ~50mm f/1.4 makes more sense than an expensive f/1.2, that's all. This is an opinion, by the way.
And a DFA 50mm/f1.8 is even more affordable.

Except at this stage, it isn't about making the most affordable product - but to find the balance for a first "standard single focus lens".
A D FA 50mm f/1.8 is a good idea, but I don't think it's the one on the roadmap, even tough we could stretch "large aperture" to include f/1.8. Unless it's a very special f/1.8 lens?

Why can't we have both?

Super Takumar 50/1.4 and 55/1.8
S-M-C Takumar 50/1.4 amd 55/1.8
SMC Takumar 50/1.4 and 55/1.8
SMC Pentax 50/1.4 and 55/1.8 (and 50/1.2)
SMC Pentax-M 50/1.4 and 50/1.7
SMC Pentax-A 50/1.4 and 50/1.7 (and 50/1.2)
SMC Pentax-F 50/1.4 and 50/1.7
SMC Pentax-FA 50/1.4 and 50/1.7

Until the inventory runs out:
SMC Pentax-DA*55/1.4 SDM (let it run out and kill it)
SMC Pentax-DA 50/1.8

Why not:
SMC Pentax-D FA 50/1.7 (budget)
SMC Pentax-D FA50/1.4 Limited
SMC Pentax-D FA* 50/1.2

My statement about what? You're imagining things.
I simply believe that a more affordable ~50mm f/1.4 makes more sense than an expensive f/1.2, that's all. This is an opinion, by the way.
And this opinion is reinforced by your statement that you wouldn't buy the f/1.2 (yes, you say if it's $999, maybe... - but the Canon started at $1600 and it's still $1350 a decade after its introduction).

Hold your horses; I can find K and A50/1.2 lenses on eekbay, for around 350-380$. A brand new D FA* 50mm f/1.2 is going to cost several times that.
Getting a bargain on the flea market, and paying for a modern, brand new lens? It's not the same; rather, it's the opposite I'd say.
Im not against an affordable (or at least "more affordable") 50mm f1.4, im just saying if Pentax bring a 50mm f1.2, its more easy to justify their cost to the general public and easily can be ser apart from the current lenses.

And now that Ricoh is bringing high end equipment like a FF camera, fast 2.8 zooms, and a telephoto 150-450, is possible the developing of the high end primes to fullfill their catalogue, with mid prices we can find the límited lenses

Regarding the Canon lens, well, is a Premium Lens and with all the years, and possible Customers, im Shure their development is already payed, but with that category, why bring down the cost?, and today there isnt too many f1.2 lenses out there to rush an update, same with their 85mm f1.2

I just think that is more possible of Ricoh to develop their high end lenses first and then the medium priced lenses, and leave the affordable line to the DA compatible series for now.

Again, I said that it was when Pentax had a much larger base to draw on, and that Ricoh would have to do their research to see if there were sufficient potential buyers to justify it, now. I was simply making the point that people in the past had forked out the big difference in price to buy the 50/1.2. I think there will be some who would do the same for a new D-FA version, but I didn't say there would be enough to make it economic to produce.

The A 50 1.2 isn't a perfect lens either. Bokeh at 1.2 is dizzying. And what do you have a 1.2 for? Just leave it to chinese manual lens manufacturers. A 1.4 will be ok.

Because I'm discussing the public roadmap, and 2017, and there's only one candidate on that roadmap, for that year - it's a "large aperture standard single focus lens".

Yes, I understand that, I just think it's more difficult to justify a lens at least double the price. Sure, you can differentiate it more easily... you'll have a very distinctive product very few would buy.

f/1.2 is useful because ISO usually tops at 800, except if you go black and wait, then you can get a grainy 3200... oh, wait...

I like that!

More seriously and to put things into perspective, here below the MSRPs of the recently introduced 50mm f/1.4 and related 24x36 autofocus lenses:
  • July 2016: Sony Zeiss Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA - $1,499
  • May 2016: Samyang AF 50mm F1.4 FE - $699
  • October 2015 - Leica Summilux-SL 50mm f1.4 Asph - $5,295
  • January 2014: Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art - $949
  • October 2013: Nikon AF-S Nikkor 58mm f/1.4G - $1,699.95
  • February 2013: Sony Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZA SSM - $1,499

So, what would you prefer to pay:
  • $349 for a smc Pentax-FA 50mm f/1.4
  • $599 for a smc Pentax-FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited
  • $799 for a HD Pentax-D FA 45mm f/1.8 SDM WR (rebadged Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di USD, MSRP = $599)
  • $999 to $1,299 for an HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 DC WR
  • or $1,499 to $1,799 for an HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.2 DC WR?

Typo, sorry. Of course, it should be black&white.

Nice job putting the price list for everyone to see.

I'd say $50 for an M 50 1.7

I don't mind for the MSRP, wich will probably not be such a pain for me, given the fact that i already feel fine with my Cosina 55/1.2

BUT, such a DFA * 50/1.2 lens will be a strong communication/reputation strengthening lever for RI, and will act as "pentaxisdoomism whinning" killer argument. Together with the other planned new lenses.

People who are not convinced by Ricoh Imaging launching an entire FF product line (K-1 and D FA* 70-200 and D FA 150-450 included) won't be convinced by a D FA* 50mm f/1.2 either; they would continue their "pentaxisdoomism whinning". People who are convinced, would rather like something they would buy.
Don't forget, companies were killed or forced to retire because they were overambitious.

Always are naysayers and haters, so whinnings are guaranted anyway, and while companies die because over ambitius, the lack of that is equally bad. So... lets wait and see.
