Guess I'm the only one that liked the new Sony dslr, looks a beast of a camera. I'm also sad that new Sigma lenses are not coming to k mount, but I will wait for Pentax ones instead, I'm sure they'll be very good too. Interesting that gopro is now without casings, but Olympus tg-4 still looks like a better suit for me (more stills focus). Id love to see a m43 waterproof camera, maybe a bit larger than current tg-4.

Most of the high end stuff announced in the last few days is not going to be available until next year anyway. The lens announcements from Fuji and Leica also look more like roadmaps me, but at least they are specific about focal lengths and apertures.

The Fuji mirrorless MF camera is interesting, but by the time it comes to market, how far will we be from a new 645 body from Pentax? I actually think this is good news for Pentax. If it helps to shift interest towards MF, then Pentax stands to gain, since it's a comparatively big player there.

I'm also very happy and surprised to see the A99ii from Sony. This year has seen the arrival of the cameras that their respective brand loyalists feared would never come - the K-1, the Nikon D500, and the A99ii. Even if A-mount disappears, users now have an extremely good camera to use their lenses with.

Has anyone seen a report from anyone who has coated the Pentax both yet? It's a bit early to criticise Ricoh for not showing anything interesting if nobody can confirm what they are actually showing.

I'm sure a lot of Canon shooters will like it.

It is pretty clear that Ricoh has been releasing gear as it is ready, not waiting for photo shows to spring things on people. As has been mentioned, Fuji's announcement is for a camera that is still six months away. The reality is that the 645z was announced in 2014 and is probably due to have a replacement some time in 2017, but Ricoh tends to keep things pretty secretive, I guess so other camera companies don't steal their ideas. I guess it would depend if Sony could cook up a new medium format sensor by next year, maybe with less of a crop.

As for K-1 lenses, we know they are working on them, but I guess they aren't going to show them. Not sure why they wouldn't -- it isn't like showing a pre-release 85mm f1.4 or 50mm f1.4 is going to reveal too much to a competitor.

B&H Photo Video on Twitter: "Imagine. Change. Ricoh featuring the Pentax K-1, WG-M2, Theta S and 645Z at #photokina! #RICOH #Pentax https://t.co/mi90gBvF2T"

What lens is that on the K-1? (it's a straw I am grasping at)

WG line is not discontinued when they are showing it, at least. Let's look for a Q

What was the time between the K-1 announcement and it actually shipping? Its not uncommon for manufacturers to announce a product at Photokina that will ship the following year.

Currently, with low inventory and minimum resources and very limited incremental new product releases (relative to other camera business of the same size), Ricoh Imaging are getting better prepared for divesting (reduced inventory = less assets to right off the balance sheet). So, either Ricoh Imaging have a grand plan and will roll out a new range of products that they currently keep secret, every one will be surprised. Or, there is no grand plan and I'm afraid that with increasing pressure from competition and shrinking market, the surprise will be that they stop camera operations. What's a bit worrying is that the primes lenses envisioned for the K1 have somehow disappeared from the last roadmap, and while their where some hint of prime lenses pictures along with K1 special web site, it would be weird if those lenses aren't show cased at photokina. We would like to see some hint of continued developments... Lets hope for big positive surprises in 2017.

Since we got the K-1...

By the way, introducing an entire FF product line is a poor strategy of "divesting" - the K-1 and the D FAs laughs at biz-engineer's suppositions. We have a good example of how it's done - slowing down the new lens introductions after 2008, no K-mount product whatsoever in 2011.
And, of course, the 4 D FA primes (and the fisheye zoom) are still on the D FA lens roadmap:

Perhaps unintentional, but that's misinformation / FUD.

I don't know, I tend to be pessimistic, that's why. Lets hope for a significant rollout next year then.

But I'm very happy with the announcement of the new K1 firmware update... for folk like me having the K1, that's free of charge.
