Mh, yes, it indeed seems to be an improvement over the K3/K3 II, but with Nikon chucking out the best APS-C sensor in history with the D500, I hope Pentax/Sony have something really impressive in stock.

The best? D7200 scores higher:

https://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Compare/Side-by-side/Nikon-D500-versus-Nikon..._1061_1020_830

It is optimized for speed, or the score would have been higher. Barely better than the K-5 sensor.

I don't know what the people at DxO have been smoking again, but when comparing images directly via the DPReview tool, the D500 is outperforming the D7200 both at standard high ISO and dynamic range.

DXO grades Dynamic Range at the lowest ISO. At that ISO the D7200 is better. Still the differences won't really show op IRL at higher ISO's you don't really want to do that anyway.

Nope, that's what I looked at - pushing up exposure from a base image of ISO100. And the D500 does it better.

Yes they do look at the graphs. I don't care what you think about it since that is subjective.

I wouldn't be surprised if the D7200 is better at ISO 100, because likey the D500 is optimized for higher ISOs, like the 1dx or d5... If i'm correct, I don't know much about this.

Pentax does not have to proof that they can build a 1.2/50. A decent 1.4 or even a great 1.8/85 would be more important. Lenses are getting bigger and bigger and DOF is getting thinner and thinner. No need for even more super wiede open glass. Give me a great f/1.8 prime to present something new. 1.2/50 is just trying to distract from the Sigma 1.4/35 and 1.4/85 which are hard to beat. Even Nikon did not renew the 85, but presented a new exotic 1.4/105 lens. It also feels like Canon is waiting what Sigma shows. Now Pentax is holding back.
With the 2.8/70-200 Pentax was first before Nikon and Canon. Afterwards the Pentax is still HEAVY, but price is OK and weight is bearable. Tamron presented a series of 1.8 lenses also to avoid the 1.4 line of Sigma. But look at the size of the Tanmron lenses, they have normal dimensions.

There are several claims in that rumor, and only one point happened; one that is not special in any way. That says nothing about the others (who can guarantee that the "generally well informed person" wasn't guessing/wishing?).
The rumor, IMO, can only be confirmed if one or both of the 2 first points would happen.

I hope for more compact but high quality lenses, by the way - but I'm afraid they'll be quite large (as primes).

1.2/1.4 not important,DC/PLM motor and coating is the point.

Even if cant pay for a new high end fast ~50mm f1.2 or a ~85/135mm f1.2/4/8 i think Ricoh must deliver those lenses, not because the big sales but mostly to show they still have the technical capacities to develop those kind of lenses, create only up to f1.8 cam give the idea that Ricoh is uncapable of create those kind of lenses, and discard the idea that Pentax only is going to have Tamron rebadges

I'm sorry, virusn3t; I believe OoKU is right. As I've already said multiple times here, I believe the K-70 is pointing in the direction of the future. Some people may be willing to buy big, expensive constant f/1.8 and wider aperture lenses for reasons of prestige, but the majority of us will be much more practical. I don't believe Pentax has to prove anything to anybody; they need to deliver the products that allow us to take better pictures.

It could be, but, if Pentax only bring rebadges of other brands, as good as they can be, why someone will spend thousands on a lens in Pentax, when he/she could buy it cheaper in other systems

Many times have been write that pros dont (usally) buy expensive lenses, the loan or rent. Pentax dont have that.

So, to who aim the sales? Maybe Prosumers or uncles Ben, if Pentax can deliver shiny big lenses they can attract press coverage and maybe get more user with that.

I know, big, heavy and expensive lenses arent the firts priorities of many of us, but they show the muscle of what can we expect from a company that sell that equipment.

What i expect are a fast 50 f1.2 (to make a diferente toward the DA*55) and a 85 1.4 because Pentax doenst have that third or first party, maybe a 24mm and others like the fisheye and hopefully a 200mm macro.

But since the DA* 55mm is not a FF lens, perhaps they have to make a DFA version? First filling up the D FA lens line with the standard options, and only then making more exotic lenses?

The cheap 1.8 already exist (and is said to have very good IQ and FF). The cheap 1.4 also exists. So those the macro. The missing one is the the kickass fast 1.2 50 for those who would like to play with something like that and have AF and AW and QS (opposed to buying a used A50 1.2). I'm here
edit. I hope they work on the color of the coating a bit. I'm not a fan of that new look in the 70-200. It's... dull?
