The risk of decentering is there with every WA and especially UWA lens, though.

I had to replace the Sigma 35 Art and the Nikon 14-24 due to their QC issues, for example.

For anything below 50mm I really suggest a decentering check on arrival of the product, regardless of which maker.

That's crazy wide. Images look good, but a challenging lens for architecture and urban.

No doubt Lightroom, DxO, Capture One etc will ship with profiles for the lens.

Indeed! I've got the SIgma 12-24 DG and the move from APS-C (K-5) to the full frame (K-1) has been interesting learning how to use such a UWA in FF. A few tips include:

1. Holding the camera perfectly level (thank you Pentax for showing the pitch and roll angle of the camera in the OVF and LCD) and being centered with respect to the subject gets the most normal looking shots;
2. UWA is the poor-man's shift lens. With the camera level, parallel lines on tall buildings are perfectly parallel and one only has to crop-off the ground to get a shift-lens view of the subject;
3. UWA is awesome for ceilings but it's tricky to point straight up (I wish Pentax would use the roll & pitch indicators to show when the camera is perfectly vertical);
4. UWA is awesome for vanishing points such as tunnels, long rooms, cathedrals, bridges, etc.
5. You can stand near the corner of a room, shoot diagonally, and get ALL four walls in the picture; and
6. Avoid having people at the edges (makes them look very fat) and corners (elongated). The same "distortion" happens with circles, wheels, flowers, clocks, etc.;
7. It's hard to avoid having the photographer's shadow and sometimes their shoes in the image;
8. Star trails are extremely strange in UWA due to interactions of UWA rectilinear projection and astronomical spherical motion; and
9. Sometimes it's fun to break these "rules" to create extremely distorted perspectives on the subject.

Hey all I new here.

First off full disclosure I'm from the Australian distributor of Irix lenses among other brands.

I checked with the mods before posting the below information, explaining I'm not here to promote any brands we represent in any way shape or form.

So please please please don't ask my opinion on the product or anything like that which may get me into trouble

I just wanted to advise anyone who may be in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday the 8th that we will have one will have one of the first 11mm Irix Blackstone lenses in hand in the country at the Melbourne Photo Show being held at Michaels.

Sometimes it's hard to get your hands on an item physically when new and in demand so I thought this may be helpful for some.

Oh, unfortunately it won't be in a Pentax mount but physically the lens is the same for all mounts so if you wanted to bring your card down and take some snaps I'm sure we can accomodate.

Why does you signature / profile not mention the company name?

Sorry I didn't know about putting my company name in the signature, the mod I asked about even if it appropriate I'm here in the first place didn't mention that, I'l go look through my settings.
But to answer your question, no I'm not from Digi, I'm from the Australian distributor, Radbitz, Digi are one of our retail partners though.

never done it before since i know the price will be lower 2 years from now but i preordered this lens (firefly). hoping it will not be decentered. the weather sealing should compliment the use of my 16-50 DA*. we'll see.......... IF it passes my testing, i will need to buy a decent nd gelatin filter to use in the rear slot. not sure if i should get a 2.0 or 3.0 nd but that will be a future consideration. these are supposed to be in stock by "July 4".

Amazon also sells it now in Europe.

It is the first lens I see which has manual focus but no aperture ring, focal length is automatically transferred correctly without need to choose in camera, has own lens ID.

That is strange.
Laowa 12/2.8 has MF and A position, though you still need to manually select focal distance.

And the Laowa reports back as "A type lens" (has no lens ID transferred) as it really behaves in all aspects like an A lens.
So Irix seems to have the full mount protocol for Pentax. It just lacks autofocus.
