In spring 2013 a senior Pentax executive told me directly, verbally face to face that
1. FF is coming, but not soon
2. MILC would come when Pentax believes OLED EVF technology is mature enough to equal OVF image presentation

1. happened . . . .

Just sayin'
Well as an EVF shooter I won't say it's there yet though i was hugely impressed wiuth the XT1 when i got it, and I've not shot the XT2 yet but i hear from another shooter it is improved less lag .005 sec (not that it was an issue and a faster refresh rate (minimum 60fps, 100fps in boost) . I rarely find them a hindrance whereas a few years previous i wouldn't have touched one

That's great news.....and reading between the lines, there wont be a video upgrade in Pentax bodies for quite a while AND probably no high end ML body either!
I dont know what Ricoh think about videos in Pentax bodies, so can't tell. But atm i can't use Pentax for pro work in video. But they let me use Panasonic for video

Well, it seems to be the case that they don't care much about video at all.

If they did, would they not support sensor-based shake reduction for video, as it was available in the K-5 II?

I fully support prioritising still photography performance, e.g. when it comes to choosing a suitable sensor for a camera, but it seems that Ricoh is not really trying to provide the best video performance possible, with a given sensor.

Too bad, because it may be costing them sales to not fully exploit what the hardware should be capable of doing.

Any idea about the mount? I think months back Kenspo said the future is mirrorless. If this is true, then this is the start of it.

No but you are allowed to make up your favorite mount specifactions for the new mirrorless and they will be as believable as this Japanese magazine article.

M-E so maybe it is Sony's E-mount.

Leica M mount rather, with Electronic contacts for aperture control and autofocus .

That would be very smart. I think that I thought that to be a smart move when we where talking about the upcoming mirrorless back then when it be came the first Q.

Are you sure you wouldn't prefer a K mount mirrorless camera?

Think mirrorless have a delay? Perhaps there is a split second lag as to when you hit the trigger and then what it captures.
I also notice this in a friend of mine who shoots a A7rii. Says just like the video, you gotta get used to it.

I believe M-mount is too narrow to work well with electrical contacts. And it might be difficult to add contacts and still keep it fully compatible with existing M-mount lenses. Many of the M-mount lenses protrude quite far inside the mount so the electrical contact would have to be positioned deep inside the camera which would make a weird design, and it would limit the optical design.
Another issue is the longer register distance of M-mount would limit support from third party lens manufacturers. They would not be able to use existing mirrorless lens designs for Pentax mirrorless.

Not even Leica choose to keep the M-mount for modern mirrorless system. Leicas L-mount would be a better solution for autofocus mirrorless.

Well Ricoh did not continue the GXR where a lot of users were clamoring for a 16Mpix sensor M module.

Ricoh didn't have, by then, a whole line of optics to sell.
