Corresponded to [KAF4 lens mount] that is equipped with an electromagnetic diaphragm control system.
Enable new lens HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mmF4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE to shoot stable by updating firmware.
Improved stability for general performance.

Well, many people were calling for it. If the hardware can do it, why not? Another good move from Pentax, following the welcome recent feature additions for the K-1.

Not buying the lens though.

Grah, so close to giving my failed K-30 a new lease on life. But I'm sure the owners of failed K-50s etc. will be quite happy about this.

Oh man! I was on the fence about getting the HD 55-300 for my K-50 or unloading it & getting a K-3II & the new KAF4 PLM lens. I'm gonna hold off on the K-3II idea now!

This could potentially give new life to K-50 cameras with affected aperture motor. The only thing is that they would have to wait for a while for more lenses since there is only one KAF4 lens right now. My guess is that the next wave of lenses will be coming in KAF4 variants.

All Ricoh needs to do now is release a K-30, K-5II, K-5IIs, & K-5 update & watch the KAF4 lenses start to move!

Yay! A lot of people were suggesting that it didn't come out first time around for the K-3 cause it wouldn't be capable; glad they were wrong!
