In a few years this spherical imaging tech will be mainstream. I just got done shooting my whole vacation with the Theta SC. It was no doubt a new type of photography, but it got the job done beautifully!

What a laugh. A playtoy again.
Ricoh pentax you can do better: Come with a

New Q!!

So mutch better than a playtoy😊
Far from a toy. The Theta has been a hot commodity, especially now that more sites now have 360-degree streaming, plus Ricoh is working with Google to allow Theta users to post 360-degree photos on Google Maps.

As nice as the Q was for some people, it just wasn't particularly popular, definitely not to the same degree as the Theta series.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but it would be better to express it somewhere that it is at least remotely related to the thread topic.

I imagine this could become a must-have for FacebookLive.

Stream a party
Stream a wedding
Stream a birth
Stream a game (field and stands simultaneously)
Stream anything where your group is geographically distributed . . . .

I see even more business for home security with such a Theta looking over your backgarden.

There are specialized Dome Cameras for that. Some of them have Pentax CCTV lenses.

One idea I had was to have a base with for smallish screens arranged around it and an array of mics. The Theta would dock on the top, and you would place it in the center of a meeting table for a video conference. The software would detect who is talking and crop to the part of the spherical image to display that person's face.

I always feel uncomfortable when I have a video conference and we all have to look at one end of the room to face the people at the other location or locations. If it were designed well, the system I described could solve that.

@ JPT, you seem to qualify for registration of your idea here :

Developing apps for Ricoh Theta

That would need some co-working with sound management device producers.... maybe Devialet ?

Interessting idea. Our web conference seating is semi-circular with tablets and mics at each set and a central monitor.
