This is really interesting - nicely done Ricoh!!!!!

Really interesting that they're angling for software developer buy in from the start.

Looks interesting. A number of reviewers of late have commented on Pentax's rather lame wifi interface. If they could couple this live streaming with updating the user friendliness of the dSLR's wifi, this could be a very realistic expansion of Pentax's capabilities.

I see the new D5600 appears to have invested some expertise in improving their wifi capability and its usefulness.

Now this looks really interesting. I was wondering if Ricoh would branch out and try new things with their 360-degree camera technology and this sounds very promising.

Apparently it also records to microSD cards, so it looks like it will be easier to manage photos and video taken with it.

I have misplaced my Theta so I was hoping they would do this soon in case I cannot find mine. I stuck it somewhere safe...always a bad idea.

Good upgrade. YouTube recently started supporting 4k 360 live streaming. So it is a pitty it is only FULL HD.

The stream looks great, I can see this being amazing in some Aurora Borealis sites as well as maybe on top of skyscrapers for the awesome views.

Ricoh did already aknowledge the heating issue of 4K recording in such a tiny camera, didn't you listen ?
+ note the way they already provided an amazing, yet aesthetic extra thermic exchange surface on this R device....

Problems are there to be solved.....Maybe next year.

I hope they show some scenery live from Las Vegas and not only their booth.

Seems like the market has shown that nobody wants a Q (although I like mine). Why not innovate in a field with almost no competitors?

"‘If we compare to two years ago, the move to the Theta S has seen business grow to something like triple".
" the RICOH THETA SC 360-degree camera [...] That model range remained popular throughout the term"
"Sales and operating profit rose for the segment [...] with the fully spherical THETA and the PENTAX K-1, a full-frame digital SLR, leading the way."
