That's actually a pretty good idea. Much more nose friendly.

Not to be a nuisance, and i love new kit as much as anyone else so looking forward to new camera details for Kp but you CAN still buy a new K3 ( not the K3 ii) from the uk Pentax Ricoh website body only £849 and they in stock.

I don't care about the name. None of us can give a proven Statement of naming. It could be the "KP" a "K-Pro" a "M-E" or whatever.
More interesting to me are the tech specs. It is a new 28MP BSI Sensor if my source is right, but actually it is just a rumor and nothing offical

But why do that when you can get a K-3 II for £699 Pentax K-3 II Camera Body
Which is pretty Amazing because in continental europe they are €949 (about 830 pound).

The CAPA magazine prediction says (my translation):

Bullet points to the right of the image
- It is unclear whether it will have an APS-C or FF sensor
- K-mount lenses will be usable via an adapter
- The monitor will have a 'flexible tilt' like the K-1's
- Classical design like the MX-1

The text below the image just reiterates that they think it will be like the 'classical' MX-1 but with a K-1 style screen and the ability to mount K mount lenses via an adapter.

In short, they are predicting it to be a mirrorless camera which will have retro styling, the K-1's flexible screen design and will require an adapter to mount K mount lenses. It all sounds a bit too far fetched and unlikely to me, but who knows?

Whoa, could this M-E be the "surprise" people were talking about? (I seem to recall the prediction was for two new K-mount bodies plus a "surprise" in 2017...?) That would make it distinct from the K-p...

KP or KP-1 P being the addition for aps-c range camera's Then they could follow it up with 2, 3 etc... mid level would be kp-10, 20 30, Look Fujifilm is doing with the xt line.

I see no room for a viewfinder on the back of that design.. the LED monitor appears to go to the top of the body. It is going to be a headless horseman if true.. too bad.

On the one hand, mirrorless is pretty much the future, and while a lot of companies are making great strides in that direction, Pentax hasn't really. The K-01 and the Q series were essentially failures (even though I know they have some fans). So coming out with a proper, good mirrorless that can challenge the likes of Sony, Olympus, Fuji and Panasonic is pretty much imperative.

On the other hand I don't want it to replace the K5/K3 series! I love my optical viewfinder, the K3 body and almost everything about it except the AF.

If they release a mirrorless alongside a DSLR K3 replacement, good. If they replace the flagship APS-C DSLR line with a mirrorless line, I will be a very unhappy customer

Spot on. This is my concern here.
