I have not because my original plan was to sell the DA's and use K-1 with my FA Limiteds and legacy manual lenses. Then I was offered a great price on a KP by a seller who experienced buyer's remorse. K-1 could be my FF camera and K-01 my APSc with the K-5 sensor, but KP is faster, should be better at high ISO and is a bit smaller than K-01- and has a viewfinder. K-01 is my video camera.
Sounds like you're set.

Nikon had roughly 36 months between the D800 and the D810, and then roughly 36 months to the D850; they also had over 100 months between the D300 and D500, so a long period between high-end products is already not unreasonable.
Traditionally there is an 18 month replacement cycle for APS-C and 3 years for full frame. These days that may get spaced out a bit more as the camera market matures and it takes longer to bring new sensor tech to market.

Just an inquiry, what is canon's equivalent to the K-3II?

I would say the K-3 II stays between the EOS 80D and the EOS 7D Mark II.

Pentax K3 II ~ Canon 80D ~ Nikon D7200

All about same level but different strengths and weaknesses.

Here is another look from a slightly different angle:
k-7 5/2009
k-x 9/2009 - 4 months
k-r 9/2010 - 12 months
k-5 9/2010 - same
k-30 5/2012 - 20 months
k-5II 9/2012 - 4 months
k-50 6/2013 - 9 months
k-3 10/2013 - 4 months
645-z 4/2014 - 6 months
k-s1 8/2014 - 4 months
k-s2 2/2015 - 6 months
k-3II 4/2015 - 2 months
k-1 2/2016 - 10 months
k-70 6/2016 - 4 months
kp 1/2017 - 7 months

If we look at all camera releases instead of just cameras intended to replace some other camera the release schedule suddenly looks a lot different. So if there is only one team working on one camera at the same time the schedule is remarkably consistent allowing for show dates and other factors that might affect the actual public announcement. I did not look at other projects that might have been ongoing as well.

I don't remember the exact take over dates but I assume the 20 months between the k-5 and k-30 correspond roughly with the Ricoh purchase. Since then they cranked out a new body quite consistently. The biggest gap is between the k-3II and the k-1 which is understandable as it would have been a bit more involved project.

K-3II to K-1 delay may correspond to service rework for faulty power switch unit in K-3ii first production run.

So since the announcement of the k-30 in May 2012 until today is I think 63 months and in that time they have released 11 camera bodies. So an average of one new body every 5.7 months.

Since KP it is now 8 months so it is obvious Pentax is now Doooomed™

If they'd just release a Q followed by a 645z II, I think we would all feel better about life, in general.

Q I think is a dead end, sadly. Unless it morphs into something different but I do not see how they can change it much without abandoning the existing glass.

645z, I do not know. Maybe this is where they move to mirrorless? 645z was announced in February 2014. I do not think, without outside pressure, they would update it until 2019. But with the Fuji medium format and the 45mp Nikon there is some pressure to release a new model. But only so many hands to do the work. What will bring the most return for that work?

I was being silly. People on the forum (for the most part) are only interested in K mount stuff, so the announcement of a new Q would only make a few happy, the same with a 645z sequel. If people weren't happy with a K-P release, those other things are definitely not going to make them happy.

I should say that I think releasing another generation Q along with the macro lens would make sense (it seemed to be a big seller in Asia). Not sure about the 645 program -- probably full sized sensor, eventually along with more glass?

Maybe not so silly, IMHO. One of the complaints is that other companies are releasing products and Ricoh is not. Whether that is valid is up for debate, but ANY release of a new product from Pentax would at least silence some of the critics. Generally I am ambivalent about keeping up with the competition but there is something to be said for regular releases so that the media has something to talk about.

Of course expecting Pentax to have a new release every time every other company has a release really is silly.
