I think it's certainly reasonable to expect a successor very soon.

To be replaced with a new cell-phone line.

The K-3III will almost-certainly have a high quality focal length reducer built-in for pseudo full-frame on a budget

Usually they will list it as sold out, before discontinue it. Yodobashi is fast retailer, so they are preparing new inventory which is K-3 II replacement.

"Sales Concluded" would seem, to me anyway, to be more closely related to "Sold Out" than to "Discontinued"

Interesting. Normally we see this claim coming out of Amazon dot something, but this would appear to be an entirely different kettle of fish.

Would be nice to see Pentax drop a D500-killer on the market out of the blue. The K-70 didn't exactly have a huge amount of teaser material come out before it hit the market, and the K-1 has held most of the attention all year. The K-70 is a mid-range collation of some of the best features of both existing K3 series cameras, so it seems fitting that they should both bow out now. I'm betting on most of the K-1's guts with an improved 24MP APS-C sensor dropped in, slightly modified control layout to remove the unnecessary crop option, the same dense layout of focal points we see inside the crop margins of the K-1 (now distributed across the whole of an APS-C sensor) - and if we're lucky, even better noise-reduction, buffer, and who knows, maybe even some tweaks to SAFOX XIII.

I want that sensor to be a world-beater, a legend in the way the K-5 series sensor was.

Steve
I have it on good authority the phone will be designated the K-S1n, with ergonomics for women with large hands. The selfie camera will have a blinking colored LED surround.

I am even more surprised to not have seen any new Pentax camera listed by any radiocommunications agency (because of wi-fi).
