It looks like a thing of beauty. A mean machine that can provide a Jedi all he needs. I hope it's a little smaller than the k-3II. Just a little and not that much.

I'm unsure if that is an accurate representation of the K-3 II successor, but it does look a lot like it with a DA 50mm f/1.8 attached.

Also:
(22) 【Application Date】 January 22, 2015
and
(43) [Publication date] July 25, 2016

So I don't necessarily think it is what the KP or whatever the K-3 II successor will be called looks like.

Well let's talk about the new grip, could this be done to offer option to the buyer
Let's say the new K-3III contain a flash but no GPS or astrotracer or any other physical option, like a large memory bank.
They could reduce the price of the basic model and size and weight.
Now the GPS can be in the grip and if you want it , you buy it. It not aastrotracer huge grip if that only think you need.
If you need more memory or battery or etc, than the grip could be different or modular.
Now if a new model come than the grip can be reuse with the option you have on a new model .

I dislike this idea since it would require one to use the grip at all times that GPS/astrotracking is needed. That is a lot of additional bulk for something that was in the camera itself in the previous model. Especially just to cater to the select few that keep yelling for that tiny, popup flash in it's place... no thanks.

Audio input grip for good quality, monitor-able audio input with xlr jacks... oh wait, haha! What am I saying?

Still bulky.. for a group of people who have been harping on Pentax to make a small, mirrorless camera.. this is the complete opposite way by increasing the size of the camera body (by requiring the grip for certain features)

But it would mean more money in their pockets by splitting the feature set into an extra purchase. That sounds more like Canon or Nikon though..

I would be very amused if Pentax manages to set the standard in DSLR audio while lagging in video.

Only if it has a long, telescoping antenna.

Install two battery packs into it and, with the optional OE-56 cables, jump your car too. (also mcguyver a campfire in a pinch)

Mosquito net! Why didn't I think of that?? That would be excellent.

Only issue is, if I wanted to sleep with the mosquito net on, I'd have to sleep with my camera pretty much resting on my face.
