Criticism is inevitable; and I can already enumerate some of the reasons for which it will be criticized:
- it's not mirrorless
- it's not Fujifilm
- it's not Sony
- it's not Olympus
- it's not Panasonic
- its AF is not on par with Nikon's best
- it has fewer lenses than Canon
- its video is not on par with the best
- it costs money
- it doesn't match someone's completely unreasonable expectations
- it's a Pentax

The lady on the German forum said that if being precise, it isn't an iteration from the K3. This implies that it is a new machine that either is marketed as the K3II successor or as a new line. She has the info from her source in Switzerland. At that time she didn't know form the KP naming but both together make sense.

I still think there will be a new dslr not the successor to k3ii . IMO It is d500 competitor at 1400 $.

That would be exciting. But, in the EXTREMELY unlikely scenario they did launch one this year, I don't know what lenses they are expecting people to use with it. Their standard zooms aren't driven by fast enough motor to make full use of the AF system (yet DC is arguable) found in a dedicated sports body and the lineup is woefully lacking in long primes.

And, as nice as it seems for us enthusiasts, no commercial photog is going to the professional sports event with a 55-300 PLM
