Originally posted by rrstuff There can be some within 5 mile radius, in altadena and on the mountain pasess like HWY 2, around in the state park and the end of sierra madre blvd, some 2 miles east on 210, 3 miles north. It's been hot and dry until recently though, so we haven't gotten that much in the past few years. It does look very nice when we have white mountaincaps.
Been there and seen it. Funny thing about California when a little snow falls. Everything shuts down. People don't get any experience driving in it, and continue to drive like they do the rest of the time. Dipsticks. Caltrans makes big trucks chain up for bare and wet roads. Morons.
Mrs. Racer and I were down that way a year ago over the holidays. Stopped in Bakersfield to visit a cousin, then went up to Frazier Park on the Grapevine, and took the 2 lane through the mountains to the coast at Ventura. Lots of snow up there, it was beautiful.
Did see a couple RUBS* on Harleys up there in the snow. Idiots.
{* RUBS = Rich Urban Bikers. $25 grand and 25 miles does not a biker make.}
