All this theory, conjecture, speculation, guessing, whatever.

No more need to guess.

Go straight to the source.

PENTAX KP

Guess this thread can now fade into obscurity.
All the speculation is about whether this is a K3 II successor or not - I am familiar with the source you posted, but there is no information in there that answers the main point of debate

This discussion strayed way off the rails a short time after it got started.

It was originally about a snippet of information about some registration thingy in Indochina.

Um, why are you posting about something from last June that is totally unrelated to this thread?

I see.

Just looked like you were trying to clutter up this messy thread with more subterfuge.

Good job.

At this point, why worry about it?

The front wheel inclination progression from the K-3 through the K70 to the KP seems to indicate a sort of logic being followed: 45 to 60 to 90, or thereabouts. I wonder how it will work in practice.

Seemed to work just fine in the Adorama video. Watch the part where he sets the shutter speed.

It looks to me to be perfectly placed so that I can use my middle finger on the front dial and keep my index finger on the shutter button or the top buttons. This is what I normally do with my K10D but might be awkward for some people depending on the size of their hands.

I hope there will be no reports of loose/falling buttons months after release. :P

I'm now convinced, KP was a threat to K-3 series, hence a buffer and battery life less than that of K-70, deliberately crippled to make it more a Landscape camera than wildlife.

In fact its a more landscape camera and than the K-70. Could have been a good wildlife/sports camera too.

But it works as a good trailer for the K-3 III.

here from the full official specs
