The 26th will tell us more. A new body also means new AF. SAFOX XIII (or skip that and call it SAFOX XIV. Let's see how it performs. Now that there is a K-1 the APS-C top model needs to be even more competitive. So much faster and better AF than the K-1. It needs to be able to draw in new customers.

I have included a couple of interesting pictures, the quick release grip looks very much like the bg10 grip from the Pentax mz-s, this had a moving lug and pin arrangement to grip on the body, I had a couple of these and the system worked well, a button had to be pressed before the sliding lever could be moved to release the grip. and if the information is correct the new KP might be like the conservative looking k1 that lost out to the mz-s and of course the both of those and the mz5n and mz3 shared the same internal body.

What else do you suppose Ricoh Imaging has filed away in the Abandoned Projects drawer?

Among others:

- the first K-1 (MR-52)
- the first K-3, ditched by Ricoh and replaced by K-5 II(s) as stopgap
- most of the work around the A(ce) mount prototypes
- the successor to Q-S1

and many more projects and/or prototypes I presume.

Roadmaped DA 30/1.4 lens, but this was dropped by Hoya I presume.

In essence, your strategy would kill Pentax without providing you with the (much) better AF system.
Not "my strategy". I do hope there is more than just a better AF in ANY upcoming pentax. But if I had to choose between those 2, I will go with AF.

No, it is not and I have got another rumour concerning the grip: that the camera grip itself would be interchangeable, i.e. that the user could choose among several grips, some bigger, some smaller, some deeper, some flatter; a few of them would be provided in the box, others could be purchased separately.

Take it with a grain of salt for the time being.
A changable/customizable grip for the camera will be very welcomed, and packing a few different ones with the camera should not be too expensive.

As I said, you cannot choose between those two as they're nowhere near equivalent. And you have a choice of a better AF yet you don't take it. You're not acting on your claims.

Perhaps the success of 645z and K-1 have emboldened Ricoh Imaging. The consumer economy certainly looks better - synchronized global expansion in the offing for the next 18+ months.

Pentax in Israel

As it seems that the most advanced Pentax sold here is the K-5, you can understand why I'm in no hurry.

That's not good - a real problem, and I wouldn't blame you if you'd jump ship for this reason alone
