KP as some one mentioned it's referring to personalized.
The successor to k3ii will be IMO a retro design with top LCD and k1 af system.

£1,099 according to Nokishita Camera, which is €1,279 and US$1,145.

(remember, EU prices include ca. 20% VAT)
rather high price

It could be a buzz-light-year design!
top LCD, K-1 AF system (or better), viewfinder sensor to turn off rear screen, quieter shutter, faster/higher fps/buffer.

KP is not K-3II's replacement IMO
If it's K-3II's replacement, it means Ricoh leaves the top APS-C camera's market.

I suspect the answer to that will simply be not to fit any of the grips, though if this camera is as small as I think it's going to be, anyone who wants to use a lens much larger than the limited primes would be well advised to go for the largest grip that's comfortable to them.

in the film days, particularly before AF, we managed to use cameras without grip with no problem....

We also used to drive cars without power-steering...
People are just used to convenience now.

saw a 1000$+ figure on the page. Is that a rough estimation?

with no bump in AF points, no top LCD, I'm expecting it to be <1000$ body only without the grip.

It's typical for every Pentax camera launch. "OMG it's ugly!" - subjective.
Be honest - do you like ALL Pentax cameras?
Don't you really see the weakness in KP's design and controls?

KP is really strange camera in terms of controls and design.

Noticing that IR sensor for remote release is missing, so I guess it will be all done using your smartphone via WiFi. It would be nice if they include an extension in the app to use your smartwatch to trigger the shutter at least.

I don't think this is a K3 successor, but rather an homage to 1957 Asahi Pentax, that plays well with current trends of compact - retro styled ILCs

Edit: And I want silver one, with silver DA 20 - 40 :P

I'm always honest. How about you?

No, I don't like all Pentax cameras. The KP looks nice, though.

I will not judge the camera's interface based on mere pictures. I have my doubts, but I must hold the camera with my own hands to see how it really works.

I am afraid this will be the K3 II successor

Simply because:

1) Looking back at the K5/K5 II/K3/K3 II release cycle, it's time.

2) The rumoured price of £1099 is exactly the price the K3 was released at.

3) I doubt Pentax will release three new APS-C cameras this year (K3 II successor, plus this KP, plus the rumoured ME mirrorless). They are too small a company to support that many different camera lines, with the K70, K-S2, K-1, 645Z ...

I sincerely hope there is a more conservative K3 II successor in the pipelines, but I doubt it.

Not really. The camera has the rear wheel just like the K3. The front wheel has steeper angle than on the K3 but I don't think it is more awkward in use.
The lack of a top LCD display is more problematic....
