I think it's a fine looking, dashing machine. I'm really interested in the image quality tests particularly high ISO shots and AF speed. It looks small, perfect for my daughter if I have the money.

As of now, all I can do is dream about it. Sorry no extra funds available.

It covers the aperture motor.
So the aperture motor must be quite large. More robust than previous cameras perhaps?

Okay, so much for tiny then.

Great superposition, though!

Good points.

Is the mirrorless sized camera selling well over there? The Fuji or the Olympus? It looks almost identical to them even though its an OVF body... which is rather remarkable in it's own right.
I don't have any numbers. If you look at the Japanese CIPA numbers for the last year, DSLR numbers are still declining and mirrorless static. That will hurt Nikon and Canon more than Pentax. With declining numbers everything is hard work.

What I do know here in NZ is we are seeing a massive boom in tourist numbers, a lot of them Chinese. If you are a tourist you take images - generally. So I think there is plenty of potential in the Asian markets yet, and as a generalisation Asians seem to prefer smaller sized units.

Yes, the KP looks to be packing a huge amount of features into a small enough unit, and the weight is less than the KS-2 if the number quoted in the specs included the battery and SD.

With the new hand grip, the KP will also visually feel smaller - if you are using the small or medium sized ones.

This circles back to our discussion on cheese earlier.
Yes it does indeed !
You watch ... soon enough there will be one such "new" thread!
In the meantime, this Kahpay looks good. Not that I would get one but it seems that they have tweaked the ISO performance, perhaps better than that of the K5.
Anyway, there will be some hands on testing which will tell the truth.

Hard to tell they might have moved the motor closer to the lens mount to reduce the size of the body to make it thinner , or moved it to better optimise the location of other electronics

Plus, if it fails, is is now easier to purge your camera of it with one swift blow with a hammer.

It may be the solution to aperture block failure. Using the K-3 solution in a smaller body.

From a design perspective they are among the worst cameras I've ever seen

Nip it off with a cold chisel and a 1lb ball peen hammer. Kind of like removing a wart.

If you look at the mirror box you can see that the mirror has change and also they have added a plug to the foam gap that allowed you access to change the focus screen. Is this to add further protection to light leaking for some unique feature to the OVF ?

Ouch
We can see the accelerator unit in K-70.
Prime IV and 5-axis SR in K-1.
