(should have put gps in instead of flash like K3)

at least this camera get a huge publicity with Petapixal : Pentax KP Photos and Specs Leaked: ISO 819200, Pixel Shift, and More
I'd prefer no flash or GPS - streamline the body.

That was a fast markdown! We should keep complaining about the price! I have to wonder how perceptions of the KP would change if the next high-end APS-C launched at, say, US$1399.

The KP has a number of features that I find interesting, like the new bracketing modes (petition to add them to the K-3/K-3II via firmware in three... two... one...), and most of the things it lacks aren't a huge deal to me (I always carry spare batteries anyhow, etc.). I'm still concerned about the "loud" shutter - even something halfway between the "sonic boom" and the "Mercedes door dipped in butter" might be okay...

It reminds me of the K-01 in the respect that it is a decent camera with slightly unusual styling that is release for a price that is out of line with the market. Pentax with the K-01 thought that the Marc Newson effect would sell the K-01s for a lot more than what a similar specified SLR would cost.

My guess is that this is a failure but that at 700 dollars, it sells briskly.

As a side note, there's an interesting little change of strategy, with silver and black versions released (or at least, previewed) together.

No one seems to wonder about the low light capabilities (or I missed it, but these threads are going way too fast for me!!). Max ISO is 819,200 (4 times more than the K-1). Even if the number has probably been pushed to get the best specs, I'm really curious to see the first ISO 12,800 pictures!

Really, what you choose to do in the privacy of your own home is none of our business.

What I truly want to know is if I can get a finely crafted hardwood grip like the Hasselblad Stellar has. Look, it even has the same hex screws for attachment!

From all the wailing when the K-3ii was released, I learned that a number of folk here use the seemingly useless tiny point-source On-Board Flash to provide fill, and they don't have room in their bags for a flash, even a very small one.

Another video, re-enacting about 50% of Tuesday's N&R comments regarding the KP (well, until the 1 min mark):

Motion bracketing is shutter speed bracketing; depth-of-field bracketing is aperture bracketing.

Regards pricing....

We all know Pentax cameras are a bargain, especially in comparison to comparable Canikon offerings.
Nonetheless, Pentax has shown a desire in the past to attain a higher price for their cameras, along
the lines of what Canon or Nikon might charge for a similar machine. What would a Nikon K3 cost?

With the success of the K3, K3II and K1, it is very possible Ricoh are increasing their prices, at least
to test the waters. The bump in price for the K1 is evidence, (and still incredibly cheap considering
the camera).

I wouldn't be surprised if the K3p, (whatever), is released at a price point of $1499 or more. Still a
good bargain, (depending on your needs), but perhaps not quite the bargain we're used to.

I do use the pop-up flash on my K-50, and would likely not use a GPS.

It's not really for adding light to dark scenes It's for triggering other remote flashes, and for adding a little fill light in a pinch when you have strong backlighting such as i.e. at the beach.

Shouldn't these threads be closed now that the KP has its own forum?

I won't buy one because it doesn't say Ricoh on the back!
