The K-3's shutter? Where do you see that? There's the mention of an electronic shutter, but otherwise...

Hmm... it does leave room for an APS-C flagship, as I suspected... but will it happen? And if so, when? And how? Should I start a thread for speculations?
My thoughts there will be a k3ii successor but after k1 discontinued because the apsc flagship may hurt the k1 sales.

So it looks like we get the (quieter) k-3 shutter. Nice! Those specs look pretty good.
Looks good. Still same 27 AF ? Well, we as long as don't know what's under inside the box, we can't tell.

Only a small comment between the speculation, this is NOT the K-3 ll replacement.
Maybe more next days, but the upper class model in the line of 3 is coming up later.
Best regards

Before K3/ K3-II could compete with D7xxx familly. The AF was noticably worse but for all the rest it was as good or better.

Now that Kp look like it does the same. So if this isn't K3 successor and we actually get a successor, that one might be able to compete with a D500! That sound exciting!

I am somewhat confused, there will be a K-3II replacement (great!) and the k-70 is new out, so where is this KP sitting?, who is it aimed at?
The smaller grip with options is the main physical feature and the weight is that of the K-70 anyway. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

The grip looks like it's for shooting with long lenses. I guess with ES one this kind of camera , you get the best IQ for the money out of your tele lens.

That's good news.
Then the KP is a new line of retro-DSLR that Pentax was famous for.

Ah so , you think the KP is a low cost version suppose to replace the K70, and that a K3 replacement would be a step above?

Safox II same as in the K-3 II.... No AF improvements. 7fps but it has an electronic shutter. If it has the newer IMX271 (not really new anymore but newer than the IMX193 (max 8.7 fps) in the K-3's) It should be able to do 19 fps in electronic shutter mode or with a kickass mechanical shutter. The K-5 can do 7fps the K-3 8.6fps

Probably to sit alongside K70

Yep don't tell yet! Remember the same AF module has been improving from the K-3 to the K-3II and to the K-1... Don't you think they will have make some fine tuning on this new one too?

Would you think it would be worth buying the K-P if it costs $1100 USD?

Which just might be what was expected as far as(APS-C) "flagship" is concerned.

It seems to be the Ricoh way to trial technology in lower specced models before releasing it in higher specced models - so yes, the new APSC flagship is going to be very interesting - guessing mainly a ramped up fps, more focusing points and a surprise of some sort -though maybe not in the video department. The logic is for a sports/wildlife camera to compliment the scenic K-1

If you ask me, my initial thoughts were that it is expensive, but then I learnt more about this new toy and considered what the alternatives are and how much they cost
