If you haven't learned to wrap the neck strap around your arm/wrist by now you will after you drop your camera a few times.
There's a reason the diagram of how to attach the neckstrap is in the QuickStart guide and first pages of the full manual

I put the neck strap the same place I've put one for over fifty years now - over my neck {which is one reason I don't have much use for a grip, I guess}

So my neck strap goes around my wrist? Does that mean my wrist strap goes around my neck?

I trust in TWO screws.

I don't use neck strap with my cameras and I use hand strap with K-5IIs and K200D. Hand strap is a protection if my hand slips.

But I use GXR without any straps at all. The hand grip is very small. But GXR is much smaller and lighter than KP.
KP with heavy lens and without good tightening of grip - there is some risk to drop.
Of course, it could be very rare. But it could be.

In hand grip The fastening of hand grip of KP looks not 100% foolproof for me.

TWO is always double protection.

You could explain us how your right hand wouldn't even feel the losening grip, before it is too late
No alcohol intended

I don't drink and smoke. But I'm awkward sometimes I'm even the objects of jokes in my family.

Beautiful piece of engineering, the removable grips. I fully suspect these will also make their way to the K-3 III. Though I'd probably like a XXXL version. :P

I really doubt it, large grip à la K-5/K-3 is needed to house large D-Li90 battery.

Yes, but it's still possible. Pentax had a service to replace the rubber part of the grip on the K-5/K-7 with a larger one, though these had to be glued on at a service center. (Can't find the link right now).

The % of KP cameras that get dropped because of a loose interchangeable grip will be LESS than the % of other kinds of cameras dropped because their non-interchangable grip was the wrong size for the user.
Wow , that's an elaborated answer ! :-)

Even when you lose the screw entirely the grip will still remain attached the the camera. You have to slide it off in the opposite direction, the weight of the camera is pulling. You would have to be pretty incompetent to drop the camera because of a loose grip.

When you have a loose screw, it's not the camera's fault if you drop it

Is this nonsense still going on?
