It's not like we'd notice a slight creak in the K-1's grip, but would be completely oblivious to the KP's hand grip not being properly secured.
Some people are just professional FUD merchants or beaters of dead horses, and that's all there is to it. Looking at it cynically, if you can't put a grip on a frame and tighten a hex screw correctly, you probably don't deserve a thousand-dollar camera. (I just hope they chose a common, standard size for the key rather than some stupid proprietary diameter that has to be bought from the company.)

^^ The key (Allen Wrench) will either be Metric or SAE English Standard. Either way somebody won't have the right one.

I don't use neck strap with my cameras and I use hand strap with K-5IIs and K200D. Hand strap is a protection if my hand slips..
If you choose to not use the safety devices provided by the manufacturer, that is your choice, but don't blame them. Your original complaint about the grip is totally without merit - the KP is totally safe if you use the provided neck strap. I used my Super Program, with its tiny grip, without incident for eleven years, going through two straps in the process; one of my reasons for finally retiring it was that one of the anchors which the straps attach to finally came off.

Gentlemen, both ways of interfacing with your camera are correct. Neither way is incorrect. You can use a handgrip strap, you can use a neckstrap. You can even use both.

Hehe, I prefer reindeer, and actually have a couple of antlers laying around. Thanks for the idea

One Japanese store has already dropped the priced to the equivalent of $1000 (without taxes). http://shop.kitamura.jp/%E3%83%9A%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%...4549212298820/

KP grip resembles Canon A-1 (film/FD) right-hand body grip (you needed a dime for a A-1 screw, but there was no IKEA in 70's ).

Still awaiting distance bracketing (present i.e. in some early non-digital EOS models).

I wonder if that will give the AF system a small performance boost
What makes me wonder if KP flash-shots delay will be equal to K3's 1/3 sec (which makes K3 + AF540FGZ unusable at weddings, children playgrounds, sports other than chess, etc.) or even longer

You probably should remove them from the elk first, though. Otherwise, you might end up with the new Pentax K-elk.

I never had any sort of delay with my flash on the K-3, but then again I use manual settings. I just underexpose a bit and correct in post for added leverage.

No problem. Set the camera to interval, put on a grip with a full D-Li90, full battery in the camera, and let the elk go where it will. When you recover the camera, write the definitive coffee-table illustrated guide to elk migration patterns.

Speed chess does exist - two minutes elapsed for each player to finish the game - so even that is not secure!!!

The delay is in P-TTL mode. It's annoying and sub-optimal. 1/3 second offset makes macro shooting with flash almost impossible for me. I would rather use my K20D with flash than my K-3, because it does not have the delay.

I would be glad just forjust 25.600 for that price if noise is acceptable as I mostly shut at past afternoon and hate flashes but don't want to spend 4.000€ for a Sony A7SII + just 1 objective... and little body but big and heavy objectives (Ken Rockwell here us right)
