For all those who discussed and complained about naming conventions and numbering and unclear lines in the lineup:
Canon follows Pentax again with The EOS 77D which fits... ehm ... fits ... well ... nowhere:
Canon EOS 77D DSLR camera | Photo Rumors

So they follow up the 80D with a poorer 77D.

Not to mention the crippled M5 is now the M6.

Just call it "camera" and not worry about lines.

ES versus SR: Read the note about image distortion. When SR is activated the sensor moves while the exposure is made. it is similar to the Jelly effect in video
The Jelly effect is due to a moving image during readout ... Moving the sensor to compensate the movement of the camera has no link to this...

does that mean that in camera SR is a major factor holding video back?
No, the only issue with SR and video is eventually heating as it is harder to cool a sensor levitating on a small plate. But it was working well in the k5 even with SR on.
It has been removed because of the SR noise.

+ just buy it, because Canon is world's leading photog brand.

As simple as panurgistic followers logics.

Works better and better, together with humanity's backward movement.

ISO 33 equivalent

Ok, so now we know that the Pentax KP actually offers electronic shutter also in OVF mode:
we also know, we can use 1/24000 in viewfinder mode.

For those taking images in summertime outside with wide apertures, that is equivalent to the camera offering ISO 33 as lowest ISO setting. Pretty neat for taking images of your girlie in the summerdress against the sun with shallow DoF.

I'd wish for a version without the flash but with build in gps...
sorry if it was mentioned before and I do know about the gps unite...
but for someone that travels a lot the build in gps is just awesome and from the size of the kp it is just a great travel camera with the primes....

just hoping and wishing....

This actually seems like the Pentax I've been hoping for. Small size , relatively high MP sensor (although I still think full frame is the answer), reportedly good low light / high ISO image quality , not alot of usless BS features and they put a flash back on it. .

In features description " When shooting a fast-moving subject in the electronic shutter mode, the subject may appear to be distorted."
Why is the subject distorted?

The electronic shutter divides the sensor into lines and scans them, sort of like how modern TVs work. If your subject is moving fast enough, there'll be a noticeable 'bend' in it. The example I've seen was a propellor that had very curved blades in the ES photo.

Because of a rolling shutter effect.

Update: I am late again. This time lithedreamer was faster :-)

Although I'll keep my K3 around for airshow action and such with the larger buffer (but I'll have the KP there so I will no doubt check it out for that), I'm just crazy pleased with the KP so far. All of those little incremental improvements together give it a rather dramatic edge that I didn't even expect. It's great past the numbers and IMO they have built a really useful machine.

Because of this rolling shutter it seems that 1/24000s is not so useful for freezing movement.
