DPR is Fake News.*

The K-3 replacement, APSc flagship is the next K-Mount** body in line, coming between late spring and late summer.

FULL STOP.

* The USA Press Release says "Heir to the K-3 legacy." and refers to KP having many of the K-3 features. It DOES NOT SAY KP is the K-3 replacement or successor.
** Added for clarification at the suggestion of Mistral75 (see below).

I'm not replacing anything with a KP. I don't need a stinkin' KP, whatsoever!! But I'm getting one anyway. This uber-cool device will be my new all-time favorite camera, no doubt... can't wait to scoop one up!
Me too, should be a neat camera despite the merited complaints and wishes. What color?

Right.
I'd actually consider the KP as a sidekick to my K-3ii if they shared the same battery.

Oh, and... Hi - 8 frame RAW buffer? Is that a joke?!
I am doing just that... They can share a battery with the new battery grip, which will work for me.

The grip takes the larger batteries?

Yes, it takes both the D-LI109 and the D-LI90P.

This is like the K-30 was, it had new stuff the current top of the line APS-c body didn't. And as a result it's till hanging around. This body being the first with Prime IV the accelerator and new focussing algorithms could be in a similar position.

Too bad they couldn't make a charger accepting both batteries.

I really do like the look of the camera.
But that front dial looks very non-ergonomic to me. I would like to be able to hold it....unfortunately there isn't a place that stocks Pentax DSLRs within 2000 miles from me (not exaggerating)

Maybe not enough market for a GRIII with 24mp.

There are three Lens lectures scheduled. IIRC GR's are typically announced in April.
