But this is a wrong information. Whatever metal they used but only parts of the case are metal. The top-cover for example is simple plastic.
This is not a fully metal-covered body.
Neither is the K-1.

However what is the point when we already have a K-70 that was recently released.

The point is that this is not a K-70 clone.

Compared to the K-70, the KP is superior because it has
{yes, only with experience will we understand what these mean}

(1) much higher ISO settings possible

(2) PRIME IV processor from K-1

(3) 5 user modes instead of just 3

(4) more AF points

(5) three control wheels

Note: if (2) and (4) mean better AF, that alone would justify the price

IMO it looks better than the recent cameras, including my K-1 (which looks a bit "clunky" and massive).
Some of us prefer "clunky" and "massive" camera bodies as they grip better for bigger hands.

I think the KP is clunky with all the knobs on top and lacking the shoulder screen.

Such is design.

Well, for me it's not an important issue - as pretty much all Pentax cameras have decent styling, and other aspects (like handling) are much more important.
I just like the styling of the KP. How it feels in my hands, I don't know yet.

Who in the world at Ricoh thought it a good idea to have D-LI90 and D-LI109 as model numbers. I think we'll be seeing a lot
of confusion on the forums in this respect in regards to the KP. Amazon has already called the D-LI109 the 'D-LII90'.

"Help! My D-LI190 won't fit in my KP. It fits in the grip...."

Lacking the top LCD screen is something I would not want. Maybe that is to accommodate the "compact" style. It does have a nice set of performance features. It seems like an advance from the K70 and it is compact, but is not in the K-3II flagship category or at its level.

Agree it looks great (although I actually quite like the look my K-1 and its simply a joy to hold).

The Adorama video show the KP in the rain with a non WR lens but hey.

The KP has a top live view electronic shutter speed of 1/24,000 sec. Could the K-1 through firmware attain this speed also?

Not just on the other site, I said it here. It's about as Butt Ugly as that Nikon Retro looking thing. Too many knobs and too large of knobs for my taste. If you wanna try retro go a 35mm not a small 6x7 design. Nice Specs though.

Some people call it ugly, incapable and a waste of money sort of a camera. I think I'm partly to be blamed. When asked what I wanted, I wanted as super ME looking type of a camera. I also wanted better images at higher ISO and this thing can go up to 819200. Again, I'm partly to be blamed. I wanted better AF and they gave us 27 focus points instead of 11 as with the k-70. Again I'm partly to be blamed for that. So if an upgrade of the 17-135 comes out such as the 16-135 and a new APS-C dedicated 80-400 comes out, then I'm the guy to be blamed because I asked for those lenses too.

To those who keep whining about this camera, I accept I'm one of those to be blamed for the outcome. So sorry about that. But I think this camera simply looks dashing.
