Don't mean to sound uneducated but what is my SS? No more coming onshore?

BTW I totally follow the logic you have for buying a new flagship APS-C crop Pentax DSLR.

Chevrolet SS, it has shades of being the American automotive equivalent of a Pentax camera. Muscular sports sedan with practically no marketing and disabled by lack of desired features (in this case manual transmission).... so few people buy it, if they even know it exists.

This year is the last year for the SS. So that is where the analogy ends.. Pentax is quite a bit healthier.

That is right, Holden builds a sweet car I would love an SS but... With two nearly new GMC's in the family's fleet a 2015 Yukon SLE 4WD 5.3L V8 and 2016 Terrain Denali 2.4L 4 cyl. FWD I think we have enough. If that were to happen the 2005 Pontiac Bonneville SLE 3.8L V6 with 55,000 thousand pampered miles would have to go and I can't let it go.

Yes an SS is one hell of a car for the modest money. It amazes me of how Pentax reminds me of GM and GM car forums!

Getting back in track thankfully Pentax is in much better shape and I think the KP is proof. I am most impressed by its high ISO performance, and can't wait to read the first reviews. I am going to go on record saying I think we will all be pleasantly surprised by how well this camera does.

I'm still interested in seeing what Ricoh can do with pushing high ISO with this K-70/KP accelerator chip.. that is, if the initial images I've seen from the test KP are correct. Looks rather clean upwards to ISO3200 which I find is rather remarkable for a crop body.

Just imagine that technology in a full frame.. haha.

Btw another part of the analogy probably also is accurate... When the G8 (and sadly the rest of Pontiac) disappeared, there was apparently a vocal group pushing for GM to relaunch the G8. So they did as this Chevy. And the SS costs around 50k but most people probably won't buy until they're sitting used around 25k hahaha

That's a pretty sweeping statement

The K-70 is certainly better than some FF models in terms of noise and noise control; however, it isn't so good at reproducing and - as the ISO increases - retaining detail as some modern full frame cameras with the same or higher resolution.

Other things to consider:

- The crops you've shown are full size. If you down-sample the 5DS and A99II crops to the same dimensions (using "Image size: Comp" in the DPR tool), the noise looks better on the 5DS and A99II
- The A99II isn't really a fair comparison, as there's the translucent mirror in front of the sensor taking 1/3rd stop of light

I will give it a go at a metal concert tomorrow..Then i have much better info to give a feedback. I but i can already say that its a bit better then K-3 on AF and ISO, but near K-1's standards. But very promising for a aps-c

a bit - is very subjectively

the same K-3's level is not bad, but it's not progress

How can you understand it? Better in which ways? Only serious test with the same lenses in the same condition could answer the question.

The KP has the Prime IV processor which is about 50% faster than prime III according to Ricoh.

Two non-fair comparisons. The FF image is enlarged more then the APS-C image. Show them side by side at the same magnification, then we may compare.

And what do you think I'm doing? At least i have both cameras side by side to test...Do you since you seem to know the answer?

Its a better and newer sensor..of course it should be a bit better..and it is..But APS-C has its limitations no matter what...

Do you really think that K-1's AF is 50% faster than K-3?
