I will need to get KP into my hands to judge it by myself then

Last question for now is battery... How many photos do you ususally take? How many photos did you take on Tuesday and how was battery? Would you be able to shoot whole concert using one battery only? How would you compare it to K-3ii or K-1?
Yes, I know, we have some CIPA standard results (400 or so) but ... but I am not CIPA standard shooter

KP seemed ok..Not an action camera..Made mostly for travel, street, holidays etc It feels very small in my big hands but perfect for what the camera is made for. And yes, i've gone the way from K-3, K-3ii to K-1...I feel its a bit snappier..in challenging light..if that gave meaning. The new sensor is very promising!
Don't you think that front dial could impede AF assist lamp?

Is it good to use front dial with battery grip?

I suspect that most of the improvement comes from the secondary 'Accelerator Unit' graphics processing chip. [Same one is in the K-70]. The KP features page says so too:

So it's mainly a JPEG thing. Be interesting to compare high-ISO RAW's with a K-3.
I am interested in this as well.
I have no desire to buy the KP, but the technology is looking promising for the K-3ii replacement.

I would think your finger would be on the shutter button in order to trigger the AF assist light. Thus the likelihood of it covering the lamp is null. Unless of course you keep your index finger on the shutter release and use your middle finger on the dial. But I don't think it would take too much to learn not to block the light in this fashion.

KP images is definitely Better than the K-3II. If those images didn't undergo post processing then, it is a big improvement for Pentax APSC cameras and a promising one. It would be interesting to see a comparison with the D500 as with the D80 and K-3II ISO tests. If the KP ends to be better, then Oh Boy! That would be a big statement from Pentax ending with a huge exclamation point!

Impressive performance and IQ even at base ISO! Pentax did it again and offers top IQ on another new released camera. That is what matters at the end of the day. From various comments on the web I think that the KP might be a greater success than some early negative comments from some members in here would suggest. I really hope so, it seems as a very capable camera that also has a character.

Those shots look amazing, so maybe my dream of moving Tess up to a KP from her K-5 are back in play.
