Both B&H and Adorama - biggest U.S. distributors, I believe - are closing for 10 days starting tomorrow for Succos. Perhaps we'll get an announcement when they are back open and processing orders again. Why release something when your big order takers are closed and risk loosing the excited buyer?
You give the American market far too much credit for being important.

It's not that I'm trying to say the American market is huge or vital to Ricoh unto itself or where the world revolves for them - think that would be Japan, but at this point, I think Ricoh needs to make as big a splash as possible in all markets when it premiers a new product. If I were in charge of rolling out new product and my job was on the line in the form of survival of the company I worked for, I'd want to make sure all my distribution channels were in place and ready to move. If you look at the number of closings in the months of September and October for B&H and Adorama, you would potentially miss a lot of days of sale and promotion. Yeah, I know Nikon and Canon just rolled out new stuff in this time frame. Perhaps another reason not to be pushing for your small part of the market while the folks who dominate the market have everyone's focus.

Besides, this is just a speculative thread at this point, since those who know can't and won't say, and the rest of us got nothing. In the light of that, I'm merely making idle chit chat tossing out a cavalier thought about why some really savvy exec at Ricoh might say, "hey, wait until they are back in full swing and have everyone hot to buy as the U.S. rolls into the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales." But what do I know? I'm just some schmuck with a (Pentax) camera and an internet connection and some time to kill. Don't take any of this too seriously....

Most likely will be buying the DFA primes for my K-1.
That's what we want to hear!

I have the FA31, DA*55 and FA77 so will feel no pressure to get the DFA 35, 50 and 85, which is what Ricoh will not want to hear.

114 pages, 1600 posts and 948 likes, for a lens that isn't released yet.

There's a lot of lens clubs for real lenses that don't have that many likes.

Just saying..

That coresponds in my opinion with a complete null comunication from Ricoh about the new product releases.

There's a lens map and a time.... it sounds like you are asking for some hand holding.
I'm wondering about these new lenses but I don't need Ricoh releasing a bunch of market speak every couple of months to keep me interested.

think you nailed that one - should we look at getting bulk anti-depresents for all these "Pentax is doomed" types?

I think YOU nailed it: considering the lack of news these days, instead of anti-depressants we definitely need anti-depresents. Let's hope we won't need anti-defutures .

Or at least a referral to a qualified physician.

So you are saying it would be impossible to be a happy Pentax shooter these days?
And that seeming depression is justified because of the behaviour of a camera company?

Personally, if I felt I needed anti-depressants because of the actions of a camera company I'd definitely see that as a signal of a chemical imbalance, easily correctable with medication.

The stuff I have will last me for at least another 5 years, if Pentax went under tomorrow I'd still have that amount of time to come up with a new plan and investigate other companies more in depth than I currently do, and save my pennies. The world wouldn't end.

The problem is, this depression nonsense is neither justified, nor is it a reflection of reality. It's a sign of an unhealthy obsession with a camera manufacturer.
